Q: Is it water and temperature proof?

We'll not water proof but will stand humid and a water spill.as for Tempeture i would leave mine inside a big truck with Windows all up and Tempeture up to 105.no problem there.in winter's in indiana with 3 degree and no problem there.

Q: I need to do unscaled measurements along curved lines. Can this tool be set to do actual inch measurements?

Yes I'm on the road 90% of the time it works great. Would suggest you buy a passed case because it's made of plastic. Have fun and take time to practice wit it.

Q: can you use it for blueprints that have been copied & the scale changed ?

Just got one for that purpose. If you intend to use it for Architectural scale (1/4"=1' ,1/8"=1" , etc) then NO it will not work. This is for Engineering scale (1:10, 1:5000). Your outputs are in Miles/Kilometers/Nautical Miles, not Feet and Inches. Great for Site and Civil Drawings, but nothing else.

I believe you can program your own scale... it comes with programmed scales such as 1:1000 etc but you can set up your own scale for miles or kms
