The impending separation is very difficult. I ordered two copies of the book right away. These were to be the two most special gifts ...two love letters to my girls. The book is crafted simply and beautifully. Seth and his collaborators and the artist let the words shine and the illustrations lift them up. I put a photo of the first time I held each daughter when they were born in each book and a photo of the three of us today. My very hip, "I've seen it all" and "Oh mom, so corny" daughters were moved by the beauty of the poem and the message Sarah conveys. I showed them Sarah delivering this poem and it resonated for them even more than I was prepared for. My daughters were touched, inspired and celebrated. This is a precious gift to share if you are a daughter or have a daughter of any age. Reading the book with my daughters had me celebrate myself as both. And I smiled to my mom I lost when I was their age...because she will always be my "Point B". Review: She is a beautiful poet, she is amazing with words and just ... - I am a huge fan of Sarah Kay. She is a beautiful poet, she is amazing with words and just touches my heart. I love listening to her and reading her poems to my campers. My campers definitely know how much I love this poem and I am so happy to have a copy of it. This poem has always been one of my favorites, but i am so happy I own a hard copy of it now. I officially do not have to look up the words online to read it for chapel to my lovely ladies. They definitely enjoy it and the illustrations are awesome. I am very happy to have bought this book and it is definitely worth the buy. I would buy it again if I loss this one (knock on wood I don't lose it). If you have not read this yet, please do, you will absolutely love it. I love her incredibly and would love to see her live. She is amazing and I actually saw her on ted talks. Ted talks are awesome and Sarah Kay should get 83789473208 awards for being so stinking awesome. Love love love love love her! Buy this book and you will not be disappointed. The book is a bit small though. It is about the size of your hand completely spread out. even though it is small, I am very pleased. Thank you sarah kay for being amazing.

Review: B, by Sarah Kay
I first heard this poem performed quite awhile ago. I was just starting to listen to spoken word poetry through the IndieFeed: Performance Poetry podcast, and from that I was searching youtube for various poets and videos. I came across Sarah Kay and fell in love with what I heard. The performance I listened to was from the TED conference, referenced in the description. It became one of my favorite poems to listen to. This is why I was happy to find out that the poem was available in print. I hadn't read a spoken word poem before. I didn't know what to expect. Would the emotions, the power, or the essence Sarah Kay brought to this poem through speaking it out translate to the page and move me? Well it did. I'm one to enjoy seeing words on a page. I like to see how they are placed on that page; how the poet wishes his or her words to be visualized on the page. For B, there may not be many lines and there may not be many words, but B holds the beauty Kay's performance in how it's presented. There are illustrations to go along with the text and I think that makes the experience that much better. The reader is able to slowly soak in the poem over roughly 50 pages, when a less creative and resourceful poet may only have used 2 or 3 pages for a poem the same length. At first I had at hard time justifying paying for one poem that I knew only takes the poet a few minutes to read, but I'm glad I didn't let that stop me from trying it out. I'm happy to have B and Sarah Kay on my shelf. This has become one of my favorite books of poetry. I'm happy to have it in my collection.

Wonderful poem
I bought two copies of this book, one for me and one for my little sister for her 16th birthday. My sister and I have always been very close, and she is a huge Sarah Kay fan. When she originally found this poem it was through the TED Talks series, and we were both moved to tears by the beauty of the words. She took to calling me her point B. A few years later, while planning an amazing sweet 16 party for her, I saw that the poem was made into a book and I couldn't resist it. So I bought us both copies and presented hers to her at the party, along with my own piece of spoken word poetry. It was the perfect gift. The poem itself is about mothers and daughters and it is amazing. Sarah has such a wonderful way with words. If I should have a daughter, I'm buying another copy for her nursery. :-)

Inspiration from Parent to Daughter
Great words which are inspirational for a kid. The pictures are lacking for a child, as there is no color. some of my fav quotes: “Life will hit you hard in the face, wait for you to get back up just so it can kick you in the stomach. But getting the wind knocked out of you is the only way to remind your lungs how much they like the taste of air.” "...don’t you ever apologize for the way your eyes refuse to stop shining." "“Because there’s nothing more beautiful than the way the ocean refuses to stop kissing the shoreline, no matter how many times it’s sent away.” " “I have seen the best of you, and the worst of you, and I choose both."

Gerade wenn man eine Tochter hat, man kann den Text auch im Netz als Spoken Word Performance sehen, aber es ist einfach zu gut, so das ich es auch als "Büchlein" haben wollte.

'B' ( aka - 'Should I have daughter') makes us think what we should tell - or should have told - our children. It's a statement of absolute love.... an affirmation of belief and hope for our children. It is our resilience, honesty and determination to explore life. Please listen to Sarah Kay live [easily found on TED] - she's a Spoken Word Poet .... and we're meant to hear her.

Emoción... pocas veces una poesía logra ese resultado. Sarah Kay lo logra con este poema, me veo algún día recitándolo para mi sobrina o hija... veremos qué pasa primero.
