Fuel system upgrade time. It easily removed the ring on my E90 335xi. It's a sturdy tool and had no problem with that super tight ring, a brass punch did nothing for me so I ordered this and it works. The only thing I did to the tool is run a thread chaser through the threads, there was a little buildup in the threads but it wasn't a big deal.

I used this to remove a fuel pump and a fuel filter on a BMW. Adjusting it was simple enough to match the small prongs on the lock rings. But getting the lock ring to break free was an exercise in patience, and it finally moved by the application of steady pressure. The center portion of this spanner accepts a 3/8 inch square head ratchet or breaker bar, but using a ratchet by itself seemed a little tippy and unstable. I had better luck using a ratchet on one side AND an adjustable wrench snugged onto the other side of the spanner. That way I was applying a rotational force and downward force with one hand on the ratchet pushing away from me, while the other hand was pulling the adjustable wrench at the opposite end of the spanner. Once the lock ring loosened, then this spanner and the ratchet got the ring the rest of the way off by itself.

I used this on a fuel pump cap on a 2019 Mazda, it was extremely tight and not coming off by hand or with a hammer. I did not want to risk cracking or damage to cap. This tool took it off in 1 minute and felt effortless. I spent like 1 hour trying previously. Great tool to have.

Easy to use. Just spray the fuel pump ring with soapy water or wd40 and it will turn easily.
