I have an older Dodge 3500, live in an increasingly high crime area, and decided that I'd better start locking my tailgate before something bad happens. After a little research, this product seemed to be the best bang for the buck for that purpose. It's relatively easy to install (the hardest part is removing the adhesive backing which required tweezers and a bit of finesse to accomplish), looks great, and fits perfectly. It probably won't stop a determined break-in, but then again neither would most any tailgate lock, so hopefully it'll make thieves move on to easier targets. Regardless, I'm glad I got it.

This is a very good and simple lock to prevent your tailgate from walking off. My 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab has a very expensive tailgate. It could cost around $1,000.00 to get one out of a salvage yard and if needed get it painted to match my truck. The instructions are easy to follow and everything needed is included. This will not stop a determined thief, but it will slow them down. Maybe enough to get them to move on and get some other victims tailgate. This lock looks factory, as long as you remove the decal. Clean the area where the adhesive will bond, with several alcohol pads, (only one is included) to properly clean the tailgate handle recess. Peal off the plastic protecting the adhesive, push lock into the upper opening under the handle until you here it pop into the recess. Press on the adhesive area for 30 seconds to insure it bonds. Do not wash the tailgate for 36 hours to allow the adhesive to properly bond. I locked my tailgate Pop & Lock after I installed it to prevent opening the tailgate. It comes with two keys and works as advertised.

I like that this fit my 2006 Dodge Ram tailgate handle but it is just "okay". I read the reviews that stated with a good jerk of the tailgate, it could still be opened. They are right. Yes, I still ordered and installed it because it was better than the alternative....which was nothing. I have a cover over the bed of my truck, and with this lock, it will be a deterrant for the "casual" thief but if someone seriously wants in the bed of the truck, this lock will not stop them. The plastic lock pieces just aren't strong enough. So I guess as long as you understand its limitations then it's a decent purchase for the price. Just don't expect Fort Knox protection!

The entire assembly feels like it's high quality, and the lock is easy to turn, and looks hard to pick. The highlights, both good and bad, are listed below:-Installation was straightforward, but might be a tad difficult if you're not very mechanically inclined. I ended up removing the panel of my tailgate to make sure that the tabs were aligned right, and bent them out a bit further, making it harder for it to fall out or get yanked out.-The only downside I found was that the backing of the 3m adhesive was rather hard to remove, I ended up taking half of the tape with it. Otherwise, the product appears to work!- I will update this review if I find any other issues, or should it stop working, so if there's no update, that means it's working flawlessly!

Super product! Well built and feels very sturdy. Install was very easy. There are actually YouTube videos available if you need it. Secures my tail gate perfectly. I installed it in less than 5 minutes.

Es muy buen producto, mejor invertir en un seguro de la tapa, ya que es recurrente el robo de partes, pueden llevarse las calaveras, tirantes y en si hasta la tapa, es mejor invertir un poco y evitar eso

Simple to install, easy to operate and finished product looks like stock (if you decide not to apply the sticker). Unit is supported in place by a 3M double-sided tape product that needs to cure in a warm environment for a couple days (as explained in the instructions). The simple solution if applying in a colder climate is to remove the handle from the gate so you can work on it inside, attach the lock, and leave it inside for 36 hours. I was skeptical at first. However, removing the handle gave me the opportunity to clean & lube everything before reinstalling. The procedure worked exactly as described in the instructions. It has been a couple weeks of cold weather, and the lock works perfectly (I use it on a cold construction site). Very happy so far!
