Prevents scratches!
Make sure you apply it correctly.1) Clean and buff out the scratches that are there. I used the meguiars scratch x which worked pretty good.2) Clean the area after buffing it out with soap and water to remove any remaining particles.3) Mix in a spray bottle 2-3 tablespoons of soap and 8 oz of tap water. Now shake the bottle to mix this.4) Spray the mixture on the area behind the door handle.5) Peel the back of the 3M door handle guard and spray the mixture on the back of the 3M door handle guard as well. MAKE SURE YOU APPLY A GOOD AMOUNT TO BOTH THE DOOR AND YHE BACK OF THE 3M DOOR HANDLE GUARD!!!6) Apply the 3M door handle guard to the door behind the handle. Move it around until you have it in the right desired position. If done correctly the 3M door handle guard will slide around and will not stick and stay in one position.7) Now take a soft credit card or a rubber card preferably or you can use your finger and squeegee the water out of it. Now the 3M door handle guard should be stuck and won't move around.8) Let it dry for 24hrs and you are finished!

Don't go for the cheap stuff - you'll thank me when you're done.
2006 Acura TL (white pearl) - almost invisible... First - don't use knockoff film - they peel/flake or don't stick at all - spring for a few more bucks to get "the good (3M) stuff". Second - wash your car getting off the grime, use a wash mitt to get under the door handle. Even if you don't dry your car, at least dry under/on/around the door handles. Third - use something like Meguiar's G10307 ScratchX 2.0 (Amazon ~$9) to buff out the scratches - YouTube has plenty of videos to show you how to do this. Any scratches/marks left behind will still show through the "scratch guard" film so be sure they are all rubbed out - mine had 10+ years of a-woman-with-long-nails-must-have-owned-this-car-before-me damage but they were all gone in less than a minute (per door) with this stuff. Then wipe off with a damp cloth to remove any residue and leave a nice clean, dry surface. Finally, remove these from the backing - truthfully, it was easier to just to peel them from the full sheet than punch it out... Slide it behind the door handle, sticky side towards the car, but keeping it in contact with the handle as you lower it vertically. I then let it stick to a fingertip on my 'free' hand so my 'lowering' hand could center it into place while the other hand/finger helped guide it to center. Once in-place, let it start sticking to the car at the top then work my/your way down, leveling it out and working out any air pockets along the way. Total time - 5 minutes / door at most. Looks very transparent when done and no more nail scratches - ever. Money/time well spent in my book.

Inexpensive and easy to install. I just hope they last.
Before buying these I purchased a similar product (at more than twice the price) made by a 3M competitor. They were supposedly “custom cut” to fit my 2018 Avalon. I tried to install one of them but finally gave up after about 30 minutes. They were much larger and made of a thicker laminate. While these 3M films are generic, somewhat thinner and smaller, I was able to install all 4 in less than 20 minutes. They came with a very small instruction sheet which was not well written and obviously not of US origin. So, for anyone interested - here is information on how I installed them:To install all you need is a spray bottle containing a couple cups of tap water mixed with 4-5 drops of baby shampoo and some small microfiber towels. First, use the spray mix to clean well around each door cup and the underside of the door handles. Then wipe the areas dry with a micro towel. IMO, it is better to install these in a well lighted garage or shade rather than in direct sunlight. Start by figuring out exactly where you want to position the film in each door cup. Install the films one door at a time. Using your fingernail, find somewhere to separate the film and white backing, but just fold back a small tab of the white backing. Now spray the door cup area liberally and spray the fingers on both of your hands. Grab the white tab, pull off all the backing and carefully place the sticky side of the film into the wet door cup. It will slide around easily. Once positioned where you want it, start in the center of the film and use your fingertips to lightly rub back and forth (left to right) forcing water and air out of the edges. Once the center of the film is “secured” flat to the door cup, use your thumb to push water up from the center and out the top half, then down and out the bottom half of the film. Keep working this way until you are satisfied the film is flat to the door cup and nearly all water and air are out. Then, use a finger and a dry micro towel to push any small amounts of remaining water and air out from under the film. At this point you can apply much more pressure because the micro towel will slide easily on the laminate. Use the towel to dry any excess water remaining on the film and around the door cup area. Hope this helps someone.

Don't get it
It's has a stronger adhesive than the one i have on my wife's car. The problem with that is it was nearly impossible to get the micro bubbles out. Plus, I'm not sure of the effect of the adhesive on the paint over time.It doesn't come with the alcohol wipes or spray either so the directions say use water, which may have contributed to the placement and bubbles.I bought the $22 one from the competitor, which is not an adhesive and comes with the spray and wipes.I don't recommend this product.

So far so good.
I've literally have had this for less than 6 months but it seems to do what it's supposed to do. Installing was fairly easy but the instructions could've been a little better. I wish these came in various sizes I could choose from but it covers enough.
