Be wary!!!
I've purchased several of these 'warranties' from ASHURION and the company Amazon used before this (Square Trade), and just was informed by Amazon that one is to make certain that you "call Amazon" and report to them the fact that you've purchased this extended warranty. For some reason, the ball will be dropped if you don't. I hadn't been doing that and just discovered that it needs to be done by the customer. This was the first time I had to report a problem with my covered purchase I found out the hard way. It seems that for some reason these two companies don't communicate with each other regarding who and when these extended warranties are purchased and won't be honored until the customer reports that they've purchased coverage. Seems dumb, but nevertheless necessary.Amazon honored my extended warranty of course, but it was just an extra step I had to take to get a replacement camera for my Granddaughter.Thank you!

Insurance always starts before you receive the covered product
I have not yet had to place an Asurian claim, however what disturbs me is that they ALWAYS start the coverage before you receive the related product....meaning even if you use the item ON the day you receive it (provided you do not work or just so happen to be home with ingredients/etc. on the day the item arrives), you have paid for several days or a week of coverage beforehand. The coverage should always start on the exact day that you receive the product, not before. Otherwise you have lost $. I keep pointing this fact out to them and never hear back. I do not know of another insurance program to run like this. Not my home owner's, not my vehicle insurance, not my life insurance...nadda. Poor business practice.

Beware-4 year is actually 3 year-runs concurrent with manufacturer's warranty
Extended warranty runs from date of purchase and concurrent with manufacturer's 1 year warranty. This extended warranty should be labeled a 3 year warranty-it's a scam for the first year!

Careful when reading when the coverage begins.
The information which I first read regarding coverage implied four years beyond the manufacturer's warranty. At least I thought it was that way. In actuality, it begins the day of purchase. If you bought the two years coverage I do not see any advantage over the manufacturer's warranty. May not be any advantage with the four years.

You can't buy a protection plan for paint
This was purchased accidentally. The spoiler? The protection plan was offered on dry erase paint, which can't be covered. The actual story - Some nameless individual in my household was ordering a variety of items for our daughter's bedroom for her birthday, and accidentally added this protection plan to the cart and paid for it without noticing it was on there. On reviewing the order, I wasn't able to tell which of the items purchased had this plan attached to it. Amazon couldn't tell me, and had me call Asurion directly. Two phone calls, a notable but not extreme hold time, and a phone transfer later, we (the Asurion rep and I) eventually figured out that the plan was meant to cover dry erase paint. The plot twist? Protection plans don't cover consumables, and paint is considered a consumable. Of course, the rep assured me that they were aware before my call that the service plan was basically bad, and they had been getting ready to cancel it and reimburse me the payment - even though they didn't know what was actually covered by the plan until we compared the plan and my Amazon order side by side, and determined what we had purchased that fell within the correct price range. Yep, my suspicious heart tells me they weren't planning on reimbursing me anything. Oh, I'm sure they would have reimbursed me quickly enough if I'd tried to make a claim against the policy. But if I didn't have a problem, they would have happily kept my money, letting me believe I had a protection plan on a wall full of dry erase paint.

NOT WORTH IT!
DO NOT BUY!!!! Our apt complex caught on fire and the smoke ruined our machine. When we filed a claim for the smoke smell that we couldn’t get rid off they stated because it was an act of god the claim was denied. So what good is it to buy a Protection Plan if my items are not going to be protected? They stated they will give us a partial refund but in the mean time they keep the rest. You are better off not buying this protection and wasting your money. I suggest to add it to a renters insurance policy or homeowners insurance policy. This is not the 1st time I buy Asurion protection plans and they deny my claim so DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!

I must have purchased this for my bathroom steam shower.
Just got it installed so if my $850 master bedroom shower in our steam shower combo takes a dump I am protected for the first 4 years. In 22 years this is my third steamer. Installation cost more as the new model had to be reconfigured and the pad inside my shower with control panel was a quarter of its previous size so I also had to hire a professional plumber as well as an expert on patching the granite to fill in the previous hole where the last one was so much larger. Good news is my husband loves it as he has an extremely tough beard and steam makes his shaving process much better. I always buy protection for major purchases for peace of mind and to cushion the blow if the product is defective or breaks in an unreasonable time.
