McCormick Alum, 1.9 oz

My dad used Alum powder on us as kids if we had a mouth sore. I didn't realize this kind was in a crystallized form, the consistency of saltI found it a bit difficult to use for my mouth so I ordered a powdered kind. I had no idea of the very many uses of alum till I googled it, pickling vegetables, keeping flowers fresh, a deodorant, foot odor, mouth sores, the list is long. I'm sure I'll use this kind along with a powdered form. It's a very versatile product to have on hand

canker sores stops any kind of pain within seconds. Heals up very quickly. The lid was glued on and I had to pry it loose from the glue(its not my grip). Other than the stupid glue keeping the lid from being unscrewed it's perfect. It works so well I am surprised it's still legal.

The media could not be loaded. May I say how well this "seasoning" was packaged. I could barely open the top w| my bare hands, it was on so tight. Smell test checks out that it is what it's supposed to. Delivery was on time as well!

Mixed results using alum for my hydrangeas. I lucked out this year and my hydrangeas have bloomed prolifically. I normally try not to cut them until fall but with heavy rains the massive bushes took some damage and so I decided to enjoy some inside. Way too much wilting going on so I decided to give the alum a go. After waiting four days for this to arrive I recut the stems minimum one inch and then dipped into the powder. So far the results have been mixed but it’s worth the small price and a good item to have in my pantry. I also tried using it as a mouth rinse on a troubled tooth as I read here in the reviews. Tried once so I have no idea if it will help but again, certainly worth a try. Great purchase.

I have been flower gardening for over 25 years, and like to make bouquets for friends, relatives, and bring them to restaurants we frequent in our area.A new gardening friend and I combined a couple of things to extend hydrangeas in bouquets...If you put hydrangeas in a bouquet, unfortunately they wilt very quickly, even using the usual floral extender you normally use in the water. However, if you cut the end of the hydrangea stalk at an angle, dip it in water to wet the end and then dip it in "Alum", then place it in the vase, the hydrangea will last MUCH longer. This little trick may actually bring back hydrangeas that are already wilting. You should also add one or two shakes of salt a day to the water in the vase as well (not too much though, as the other flowers won't appreciate it).I jokingly said our experiment felt like it was, "An 8th Grade Science Fair Project"! LOL!But it works, and that's what counts!!!

I bought this only because I wanted a natural remedy for my constant (inner) mouth sores. The sore starts out feeling like a scratch or annoying pimple usually in the gum area and then turns white and throbs, 24/7. Eating, drinking, breathing- is painful. I get them inside my mouth after too much spicy food. I also can get them when stressed or when monthly hormones change. I have used everything, but this is internal so not much relief is available. NOTHING works and the pain is horrible and lasts for days for EACH sore. But I found reviews all over the internet that this, ALUM, was the solution, and guess what.... it IS! I just used my finger and dabbed it on my sore (it's like fine salt) and after the initial burn, my sore started to tingle and then felt better- fast. The taste is TERRIBLE, but fades quickly. It has been a few hours now and it still feels better. I will do this again before bed. This little bottle will last a lifetime and is worth every penny.

I will buy a bigger bottle next time but it worked with my mouth sores
