How to Open a Successful Pawnshop

Very well written book. Would not have considered going down this road (to open a pawn shop) without it. Not only is Mr. Gornbein an accomplished pawnbroker and pawnbroking consultant, he is a really good guy, and generous with his time. This book is a must have if you are considering opening a pawn shop, or if you just would like very detailed information about how pawn shops operate (or, at least, how they SHOULD operate).

I was very disappointed with the book because I was attracted to the promo of how to get initial inventory at no cost. The book only contained a one paragraph general statement about consignment of jewelry, but did not address any other of the extensive inventory needs.The rest of the book was pretty much what I had already read elseware.

The old adage goes" you get what you pay for" this is true for this book. excellent. step by step instructions, very helpful tips and advice that will save you hundreds of dollars.

Very general information, i was expecting a more detailed "Business Plan" or operation guide or "how to" type manual...for the cost I was very disappointed in the book...it's more geared toward someone with no idea of what a pawnshop is or what they take

I could not have received this book at a better time. i am in the process of opening a pawn shop and it has provided me a wealth of knowledge which in turn has saved me countless hours of my time and money. Opening and operating a pawnshop is a very complex operation which really requires pulling from resources outside of your primary area of expertice. This book really puts it all out in front of you. It just about tells you what to do, where to get it done, and even in many cases how much it should cost. It is a must have if you are looking to open a pawnshop.

When i received the book i was more than eager to read it, my husband and i were just about to open our first pawn shop so we were looking for all the advising we could get. This book helped us get from Point A to Z explaining every step of the way in detail with not only suggestions but in depth descriptions of how to run things successfully. From hiring employees to what software to use this book tells it all. I suggest it to any newtimer or oldtimer in the pawn business.Thanks for all the help!

Could not put down. Even my wife read it. If you are starting any bussiness relate to pawnshops, this is a must. It is a money, time and aggravation saver.

outdate but we own pawn shop bostonpawnbroker.com and this book came in handy even though we don't with guns. great overall knowledge.[...][...]great info, a little expensive book buy three others cheaper then learn same stuff.
