A terrific tool that did a great job!
I have a large Lopi wood stove insert vented via a metal pipe that goes up about 22 feet through a stone chimney. I have been having the pipe professionally cleaned at the end of the winter season each year, and the draft is terrific for quite a while. But this year, I had a ton of great firewood, and burned a lot more wood than usual. With still about a month to go before the winter ended, smoke started coming into the room every time I opened the door to add wood. Rather than stop using the fireplace or possibly having to have the pipe cleaned twice, I decided to give this chimney sweep kit a try. And it worked great! The kit is easy to use, but it could make a terrific mess if you don’t have a good plastic barrier over the opening. Take a look at the accompanying pictures for how much creosote came down the pie, and how none of it came into the room. Here is what worked for me: 1) I put a layer of plastic inside of the door opening, and another one outside, and taped the top and side edges with duct-tape, and left the bottom edge untaped at this point. 2) Then I put a few strips of duct-tape in the middle of the opening about a third of the way from the bottom, made a vertical cut through the tape and both layers of plastic, and put about a 6 inch long piece of black plastic 1 inch pipe through that opening at an angle so that the rod would go up into the flue as I fed more rods into the pipe, and taped the black plastic pipe in place. 3) I then put the head assembly onto the first rod, ran the head and rod under the plastic with the head going into the flue, and the rod coming back out through the plastic pipe, and then sealed the bottom edge of the plastic with duct tape. 4) I used a good electric drill and made sure to keep pushing the head up and down as I ran the drill (as others suggested) adding more rods until I could feel that I had reached the top, then did the same on the way down as I removed the rods. The rods slid easily in and out of the black plastic pipe, and none of the massive amount of creosote came through the plastic barrier or the pipe. The whole job took about an hour. Detaching the rods on the way down was sometimes difficult but the pointed end of the tool that is provided worked (with some effort) to press the buttons down far enough to release the rod. When cleaning the rods, I suggest spraying each button with WD40 to make it easier next time. That may even make it worth doing before first use to make sure all of the buttons are good to go. All in all, a great tool and well worth the price!

Works great!
I have a recently new pellet stove (one season's use) in a corner of the living room. Because of the tight space situation, it was a little awkward and I was initially concerned that the rods wouldn't hold up to the challenge of an aggressive bend, but they did. This tool worked beautifully! As I fed it up the pipe, I watched the soot dump into the foil pan on the floor like it was water into a bucket. On first use, this tool has already more than paid for itself. And I can now burn every season with safety and confidence. If you have a pellet stove, buy it and use it.

A very good chimney sweeper
This is my first chimney sweeper and my new house had a chimney with a thick layer of soot in it. Adequate number of extension rods are provided to clean most one and two story chimneys. The flaying yarn on the cleaning head can be trimmed to fit the flu, but I opted to not trim them. Instructions indicated that a battery powered drill would work. I first tried my 18V drill and very quickly drained two fully charged batteries. I then switched to a 120V heavy duty drill and had no further issues. Adding just one rod segment at a time made it easy to operate the drill and move the cleaning head up and down inside the chimney. Shaft vibrations and resulting rattling noise did not occurred in my metal chimney until it was about 12-foot long, but still easy to handle. The assembly of the sweeper was easy enough. The challenge was in disassembly when two hands were needed to hold and depress the spring loaded locking pin and a third (unavailable) hand to pull the shafts apart. A visual inspection of the chimney showed that the heavy soot deposit had indeed been remove which was supported by the deep layer of soot in the fireplace. The tote sack for the soot covered rod segments and cleaning head is a great touch. This did not work well to clean the upper chamber of the fireplace or the damper. I still recommend this for routine chimney cleaning.

So much time saved
So easy to use worked from the bottom up did a fantastic job cleaning up my wood stove pipe I’d recommend still getting on the roof to check the very top cap after the screen to make sure it’s also clean but such a great product

Make sure they are fastened.
The media could not be loaded. Worked great until it came apart while coming back out. It was about 29’ up. I thought they were all fastened together. I had a camera and attached it to the poles. As you can see in the video.I might drill out the spring part and put a 1/4” bolt and lock nut in its place. I do not want it to happen again.Lucky I got it out.

Great tool for chimney cleaning
I used this tool to clean my chimney last weekend and it worked wonderfully. The sections click together securely and did not come apart. After reading previous reviews I was careful to not spin the drill at full speed, but even at half speed debris was falling down like crazy. After I was done I even taped my fiber optic camera to the end of the pole and fished it back up into the chimney to verify everything was clean. Everything came apart easily, a quick wipe to clean and back into the bag provided. Perfect

Way better than expected
I actually waffled a few months on making this purchase, looked through many of these, and read many reviews. After the last chimney cleaning company called to reschedule [many never returned calls, others confirmed and never showed, people just don't want to work these days] I decided to cancel and make the purchase, so glad I did.Very simple process, kept my drill on 1 [low setting], put the provided plastic, put a slit in it, attached the cleaning head to the first rod and slid it through the plastic and up the flu, then I slowly went up, adding rods as needed, when I hit the top I reversed the drill and the process.Through it all you can see the difference in the attached pictures. About 4.5 inches of soot. No soot anywhere, except the fireplace.Used the shop vac, and put all the parts in the nifty bag that comes with it.Great purchase, less than a third of the cost of paying someone, this paid for itself in the first use!Take the plunge, its easy and you wont regret it.

Works really good
I was a bit surprised at how well it worked. most people go from the bottom up and I opt to go from the top down. I just ensured that all of the buttons were firmly in place For a lowering down into the chimney. The only problem that I had with it was I tried to keep the speed down on the drill. if you go too fast it starts banging around. I thought that the banging round would be a problem because of the clay tiles I didn't want to break them in the chimney. It turns out that about a third to about a half speed on my quarter drill worked out great and it kept everything spinning and cleaning without the banging that was going on. After the cleaning, I looked at the chimney and I had about a year and a 1/2 of part-time use on the chimney So needless to say it was pretty dirty. The Before and after were surprising now I'm running my chimney without any worries cause the chimney is super clean. Glad I bought it!! Probably will use it half way through winter just to be on the safe side. Next time I will go bottom up and try it like it's designed.Ps the rods are not as flexible as shown in picture and would not flex past 90 deg in fear of breaking. Also I ordered a little longer to have a couple spares just in case the shafts broke.

Works awesome!
Super easy to use and works great! Cleaned the chimney in about 20 mins, without having any idea what was doing.

It works but
Worked to clean my chimney from the bottom cleanout. And did a good job actually. However.. i had no 45’s/90 degree bends and the rods still would come apart, even with electrical tape at the connections for extra insurance. Not a huge concern as i was only doing straight up and it would fall down the clean out and never get stuck. But no way this thing will clean 90’s without rods coming apart. Overall though for what i need it to do it did work good! Have my doubts how long the head will last though. One use and i already had one of the nylon brush pieces fall out.
