Jormungand, Vol. 1 (1)
B**D
Her Name is Koko
Jonah is a child soldier who hates weapons with all his heart, so it can be considered pretty ironic how he's joined up with Koko Hekmatyar, a peculiar young woman and arms dealer...Jormungand is an action filled manga by Keitaro Takahashi. His art style is unique in that it doesn't look at all like your typical manga and it stands out in a crowd in a very good way. The action scenes are well done and relatively easy to follow and despite the subject matter, the more comedic scenes are genuinely hilarious. This keeps the volume as a whole entertaining and enjoyable and the pacing is great, good at grabbing your attention and keeping it.The characterization is good for a first volume, showing many of the large cast's personalities very well. Jonah and Koko are very memorable characters in themselves and putting them together just emphasizes their differences that much more. My only gripe is that some characters aren't very fleshed out but this is understandable because there's only so much you can fit in 192 pages with roughly ten recurring major characters. However, it is to my understanding these characters become more rounded out in later volumes.Over all, Jormungand is a fun story with tons of action and wildly unique characters like Koko, who is oh so very loco, the seemingly emotionless child soldier Jonah, and the rest of Koko's crew. If you're interested, I would definitely recommend this since it is a great read!

Great manga
This series is great, and I've been watching the anime series since it started early this year. The creators of the anime stuck really close to the manga and it's almost exactly the same so far. The only reason I'm giving a four and not a five is because I like it when the mangas and animes are at least a little different, so you don't just re watch the same exact thing. Other than that I think it's amazing, lots of action, great art, enticing story. It follows Koko, an arms dealer and her team of bodyguards as they travel across the world getting into sticky situations. The second main character, Jonah, is a child soldier who is seemingly emotionless and has a dark past, he is the newest addition to Koko's team and ironically hates arms dealers.

A break neck start to an amazing series
Jormungand is a one in a hundred manga that makes you sit up and pay attention. It's one of those rare series that's worth reading over again. Volume one hits the deck running and keeps you coming back for the next issue. If you're a fan of the Black Lagoon series then Jormungand is your manga.

Great series, sabotaged by Viz
This is yet another amazing series that has been sabotaged by Viz when it comes to kindle releases.Lets get the good stuff out the way first. This series is without a doubt one of the best i've ever read, it's frequently put in the same vein as Black Lagoon, which is wrong really, the two series don't have anything in common really. However this series is significantly better than black Lagoon IMO.Jormungand focuses on the relationship between Koko, an excentric arms dealer and Jonah, a child soldier who is recruited to her team. It focuses on their mission to, well, sell weapons. As well as the troubles that comes from that trade, such as police and other groups trying to arrest and kill them. All the while there's an under story relating to Koko, which is handled really well and when things finally get revealed you're left with an OMG moment. While this is a fairly serious title, it dosen't take itself TOO serious, and the cast is looney enough to inject humor where it's needed. However when it's time for serious mode they switch over and get VERY serious. Normally i've found such switches to feel out of place and ruin both the story and immersion. However in this case it's fluid and perfectly matched and fits like a silk glove! The bad:Viz just can't do kindle releases, simple as that. This release has several key things wrong with it.1) File size. The file sizes for these volumes is insane, you're average file size for kindle content is around 20mb, usually significantly less. However i don'tthink i've seen a Viz manga release less than 100mb. these files are just to damn big, this series alone takes up near 1gig of space and is only 11 books. think what happens with larger titles such as Naruto, Bleach or Claymore.2) Restricted device. I have an android phone and a windows tablet. I bought all 11 volumes of Jormungand as kindle content only to now have to return for refund as i can't read them on my tablet. Viz has decided to only allow Android and Ipad, so for those of use who use Blackberry, Windows phone/tablets, or Mac, tough look you can't read your content. This is bad business and needs to change, especially since all the content is delivered through the kindle app any way. you can't even access these through Amazon's own online readerConclusion:While the series is amazing, one of the best i've ever read, buy it in paperback, not in kindle format

Brutal and gripping from the first page.
Brutal and dark but not without a sense of humour. The story follows a young child solider and his adopted "family" who are in the arms trade. Each character has their own agenda and reasons for being where they are which are slowly revealed as each story is told. This manga as beautifully drawn and well laid out, it doesn't pull any punches so expect violence. The way the gun fights are reserved drawn give a real feel of speed and adrenaline. Each character is well developed and easy to develop an empathy with dispite their sometimes dubious motives. This is a great piece of story telling from.a great manga artist. A must read.

DEATH IS THEIR BUSINESS AND BUSINESS IS GOOD :)
Volle Empfehlung.
