I was worried about this product after reading the one review but bought it anyway because I know it can't be that bad for something this simple. True enough. This unit works as described and better than I expected. There were no instructions but it is magnetic reed switch so what else do you need to know? I moved a magnet close to it, it turned on my light. I moved it away, it turned off. A few tips for those wanting to use this.First, it needs to be connected to power for this to work. I had this connected to AC-AC relay. When the magnet is closed enough to the front or the back, it connects and turn on my relay. I use front for the side that has the LED light. Oh - that's a bonus. It lights up when there is connection.Back side would be the side opposite the LED indicator. Either the front or the back works.

Just did not work, no matter what type of magnet or distance I used. HOWEVER...I'm am upgrading this company to 2 stars because they did contact me and tried VERY VERY hard to resolve matters. Unfortunately, --- I --- had already discarded the switch. I really wish I'd contacted them first, but for a small dollar item, I expected to get no relief/refund. My bad.

Use this for a lot of motor RPM testing at work. Grab some neodymium magnets, wire it in line as a switch and you are good to go.

Perfect for seat-belt fashioned detection in automotive restoration.

Also did not work for me. Tried different magnets and distances.
