Very bright light.
Small enough to store away or carry around but bright enough to help on emergencies.

This is just a terrific light at a very reasonable price
This is just a terrific light at a very reasonable price. I have owned many camp lanterns for many years starting with the old Coleman fuel models and have switched to LED's in the past years because they are smaller, quite and cheaper to run. This runs on three AA batteries and does so for many hours. The on off switch is just a matter of opening it a no brainer. Good bright general lighting, it does not focus but does a wonderful job, especially for the price.

A bright, compact, and seemingly-very-durable lantern, for camping for emergencies ...
Very pleased with this lantern - it provides intense light, and can easily keep a small room lit. I'm happy that AA-batteries are becoming the standard for lanterns such as these (no more worrying about different battery sizes depending on the device in question). It's small, and therefore very compact - easy to store, or even carry inside a back-pack. If anything, it might be a bit too bright; I'm still fond of my old-school Coleman battery-operated lanterns (even though they require four D-batteries, if I recall). If anything, both compliment each other.

Bright and takes batteries I might actually have on hand.
Don't be fooled by the smaller size of these lanterns. (They are about the size of a large can of beans.) The smaller size for me was a good thing because I would not have a place to put a giant ten pound lantern except in storage and it would never get used again. The smaller size with the smaller batteries is also a plus if you are planning on a smaller child using this or carrying. I was really skeptical at first because the price on this was a real steal. I needed a lantern for a camping trip and everything I was looking at was over $30. Then I saw these. These are super bright. I got them for camping but I can see using them for Halloween, in case of emergency when the power goes out, just to keep in the car for emergencies, and hosts of other uses. They use three AAA batteries (not included) but hey I have scads of AAA batteries around the house at any given time. The AAA batteries are a deal sealer for me, I really did not want to spend $40 on a lantern and then another $15.00 on batteries. I can't believe how bright they are, I am so glad I bought a pair.

Very bright. Compact. Batteries last a long time. Needs some kind of shade if looking towards it, if not able to hang the lamp behind eyesight.

Great table/tent lantern!
Compact with easy on/off design function. I bought one initially and then bought 2 more after checking it out. I like how compact it is without feeling too flimsy. I used this camping this past weekend and it was bright enough to light up a 10 person tent. Initially when you pull it on it looks very bright but as soon as I put it above my head the flood on the light fades a bit but was still bright enough to use in the tent. I kept it on for a good 3 hours and the light was not hot. I also like the fact that you can just extend the lantern full length to expose all the LEDs or shorten it to adjust the amount of exposure you need. The lantern is great for placing in stationary position but I would not recommend it to light up a pathway during a night hike. Overall I am pleased with this product.

It will do the job!
Our electricity almost never goes out, but when it did the other day I found some holes in our emergency supplies. A little LED flashlight (which is what we had) just doesn't cut it in the dark! So I came to Amazon, and after looking around awhile I found these lanterns that looked like a good choice. I purchased one for each person in my household (3). When they arrived I had my husband put in batteries and check them for any issues. He found none and all worked perfectly. So they are packed back up in their boxes, waiting for another blackout. Hopefully we will never have to use them!BTW, shop carefully for this item. The same one is being sold by many different sellers for many different prices. At the time of my purchase, iMarky had the most reasonable price at $9.98.
