I tried this peeler out on a bag of whole organic carrots. I mention that they're organic because those tend to be smaller and therefore more difficult to peel. I usually use an oxo brand peeler with a sideways configuration. I've only ever used a horizontal peeler a few times so I wasn't too sure about it.As a regular peeler this will work in a pinch. The serrated peeling blade not only makes peeling more effort than it needs to be but removes more of the food than it should. It's fine for quick peeling jobs but it won't replace my everyday peeler.The julienne side is where this item shines. It works amazingly well with very little effort. It makes carrots into a wonderful salad topping. It would also be great for raw beets for salad or for turning potatoes into hash browns or even zucchini into a noodle alternative. It makes quick work of a carrot and the shreds all come out nice and long (3-5") and uniform in size and length.I found it's easiest (not to mention safest) to set the food down on a cutting board and hold it with one hand while using the peeler to julienne the food by pressing firmly and pulling the peeler along the food while keeping everything parallel to your body.I appreciate that there is a cleaning tool included but I haven't yet had to use it. The food pieces rinse right out.

The peeler is well constructed from stainless steel, has a 5" long handle and 2" wide, very sharp blades on either side. It feels substantial in my large hands. Very smooth operation peeling or julienne a variety of veggies or fruits. On either side are a small corer and a scoop, useful in excising extraneous bumps, growths or discolored spots on food items. The tool is easy to clean - use a soft brush on the tines/blades (included) - and is dishwasher safe.Various recipes are available where this tool is very useful; the limit is one's imagination. Like others have said this is a super sharp peeler that works really well, whether you want to peel vegetables or make thin noodles for creative salads or side items. It comes with a little brush to clean the blades too. I have many peeler including some super ones from Zyliss and Cuisinart but this is a peeler I reach for when I have to tackle a harder or bigger vegetable.[Received a sample for review]

This little kitchen tool is so versatile! It's a cutter/peeler/slicer all in one and it's very good quality. It worked perfectly to peel the cucumbers for my daughters lunch and julienne the carrots for my own salad. The blades are very sharp and minimal force was needed to use it effectively. I love that I can just throw it in the dishwasher and not worry about hand washing. The cleaning brush is also a great little extra though I haven't even needed it yet as the tool rinses clean. I was able to purchase this for a discount in exchange for my honest review but I was truly impressed with the quality.

I got this at a discount for my honest reveiw. First off I should say this is very sharp! This is nothing like the plastic ones you buy that are hard to use and need a lot of force. This cuts veggies and fruit with ease and little pressure. Has a nice handle that is easy to hold on to without slipping out of your hand. and dishwasher safe. My opinion, a must have! Love it! The plastic one I had went in the garbage. A definite must have. My opinion.
