They were very stuffy

I have tried almost all the brands, and Rico Jazz Select has the perfect responsiveness for me and my setup. I am still trying both the filed and unfiled versions and haven't decided which I like better, but they both play well, and I keep swithching between them. Great full sound, long lasting. I do use the Rico Reed Vitalizer Humidity Control Pack (73%), which may also be a factor in keeping the reeds playing longer. I can usually play most of the reeds in a box, too.

A custom mouthpiece refinisher recommended I switch to Rico Jazz Select, and boy was he right. The advantage of this reed is the evenness of the strength in each box, allowing more grades of strength. If you find Java 2.5 too soft, but Java 3 to be too hard, the RJS 3-Soft sits almost exactly in between. Similarly the 3-Hard stand between Java 3 and 3.5. In addition, I have found the table of these reeds to be more consistently flat than the current crop of Vandorens, requiring less preparation to get a good seal with the mouthpiece, and the evenness from side to side is better. If you want to prepare reeds so that even more of them are usable, the two best tools for perfecting reeds are the ReedGeek and the ATG Reed Preparation system. Between these two tools and RJS reeds, I now get exactly what I'm looking for in a reed, about 9 times in 10.

I bought these for our son who is in middle school. He was so dissapointed that none of these reeds worked out of the box..he can barely get a sound out of these :(...He is now considering quitting saxophone and I do not know what to do. very sad

Great reeds! Rich, thick, vibrant sound. I'm no pro, but it isn't the reed's fault. It's no wonder this is the reed used by so many when a paycheck is on the line. Vandoren can be good as well, but these give me the response I'm looking for.

I ordered these reeds at the recommendation of my sax forum and I love them. I am just a beginner so I am still learning a lot, but these reeds have really helped me a lot. When I am playing notes well they sounds a lot closer to what I want my sounds to become, and this is just with a basic yamaha 4C mpc.The reed is extremely responsive to the embouchure and you can really notice the differences subtle changes can make. For the beginner like me, it's making a world of difference in developing a proper tone and pitch control. I've gone from having a jaw set that was all wrong to learning to use the jaw correctly. It's all in how this style of reed reacts to the player. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants a good jazz sound (probably why you are reading this) or to someone who wants to develop a good jazz sound.

Not that strong not as good as Vondoran ZZ that I use, I seemed to have gone through the Tenor Reeds very quickly. The Bari reeds I'm still using, Sorry

Suono le 4s filed che generalmente sono introvabili. Non le prendo mai su Amazon perchè se ci sono costano sempre un po' più che al negozio. Una mattina le ho trovate ad un prezzo assurdo (12 euro) ovviamente ne ho presi 2 pacchetti.

Es sind tatsächlich die echten Rico select Jazz drin! Undzwar orgignalverpackt und noch verschweißt.Ich mag den Unfiled Cut ein bisschen lieber, aber das ist Geschmackssache.Voller Sound und gutes Ansprechverhalten.Die 3 soft sind genau richtig wenn man Blätter zwischen 2,5 und 3 sucht.4 Sterne, weil Thomann leider ein ganzes Stück günstiger ist, aber es musste schnell gehen und das tat es mit Prime.
