I have four fiddle leaf fig trees in my house and they do not like to be over watered. This meter helps me know when to water. My trees are very happy. It's easy to read. It also shows the amount of light and the Ph level of the soil although I do not use those functions. If you have water sensitive plants like a fiddle leaf fig you have to have one of these.

A little but helpful tool!
As a beginner to gardening I decided to buy this meter. My cilantro plants kept on dying and I was unable to figure out the reason. This meter came really handy and proved to be an inexpensive useful gadget. It came with the little maunal to help u maintain ur garden. I don't have to worry about batteries either.

This works GREAT to tell you when to water. Not much else though
The soil pH does not seem accurate and I haven't tried the light meter. I do find this tool invaluable for potted plants and knowing when to water and to prevent over watering. The probe accurately tells me what the moisture level is at different depths in the potted soil and lets me know when it is time to water. If you use the "poke your finger in the soil and if it is dry to the second knuckle then water" method, you will likely over water and your plant will suffer. With this, I can see when the soil near the bottom is getting dry and that is a much better indicator of when to water. If this broke, I would definitely buy another!

The PH setting does not work although the “moist” and “light” settings do
I have tested the PH setting on several soils. The PH setting never moved from the alkaline “8” setting. I then tested the devices pH setting in vinegar with is acidic and again the PH setting did not budge from the alkaline “8” setting.The “moist” and “light” settings work fine.The box the product came in gives an email address which can be used to contact the business if there are any problems. I have emailed the business twice and received no response.

pH Levels Are Not Accurate
The pH levels are not accurate. I had three healthy blueberry bushes that thrive best in a soil pH level between 5 and 4. I used the device to show the pH level of the soil. I placed the device in the soil to get a measurement and it read that the pH level as 7. So, I added a soil acidifier to boost the pH levels to the 5-4 zone. The meter moved to pH-6.I added more soil acidifier and the pH level remained at 6. After 3 days I noticed some of the leaves had started to turn brown and die. I measured the pH levels again and they were 6.5. The next day I noticed more dead leaves.I decided to test the meter by placing it in a glass of 5% acidic white vinegar, expecting to see the meter jump to pH-5. It did not, it stayed at 6.5-pH. I cleaned the probes and placed them in a glass of tap water. The pH moved to 7.I had purchased two of the meters (why not, at $5 each, they were so cheap/inexpensive), so I ran the same experiment with the vinegar and water...same result. Neither meter was accurate. I then got some litmus paper to run the same experiment. The litmus paper gave an accurate reading of the pH levels in the glasses.I strongly recommend you NOT purchase these meters because they don't provide an accurate reading of the pH levels.I flushed the soil around my blueberry bushes with fresh water, but it was too late, all three plants died because I'd over used the soil acidifier.If you want to test the pH levels in soil, do not purchase this model, is is not accurate.

It works good for me
Mine works fine. Just stick it in the soil and select what you want to test (light, moisture, ph). Give it a few seconds and watch the dial move. When it stops take your reading. I haven’t independently tested ph so I don’t know how accurate it is. Moisture seems accurate. I haven’t used it for light.

Accurate and multifunctional
I was getting worried about one of my plants and everything I read said it’s either going to be a water issue or a pH issue. Luckily, this soil meter checks both and appears to be pretty accurate. (The correct moistness level reading on it seems accurate based on me also feeling the soil and it feeling pretty dry, so I need to water!)

Good measuring tool
Bought this for a portion of my lawn that seemed to be discolored/dry as the rest. Tested it, and it indicated that part of the lawn had low pH levels and moisture. Tested other parts of the lawn and all was in the green, except that portion. Bought nutrients needed and modified the sprinkler system to water slightly more for that area. After a few weeks, my lawn looks great!
