A large, rather portly member of the finch family, the pine grosbeak (Pinicola enucleator) inhabits northern latitudes worldwide. Males bear the distinctive rosy plumage; females are mostly gray with a pale greenish-yellow head and hindquarters. Though pine grosbeaks will catch insects, they aren't very good at it and prefer to dine on fruits and seeds instead. Slow and deliberate in their movements, they are also notoriously unwary, appearing almost tame.
