HODEDAH IMPORT 4-Shelf Bookcase Cabinet, Cherry

I just wanted to let you know that I absolutely love these shelves. I ordered two 3-door shelves and two 4-door shelves. Although I know it is way past my time to be able to return an item and I can accept that, but I did want to let you know that due to numerous occasions with sickness heart attacks in the past year in my family I was only able to get three of the four cabinets together. The fourth one has been in the box it was shipped in and stored in our extra bedroom. Today I got the opportunity to put this last one together so when I open the box and start removing the pieces the first piece was piece “D” which is one of the sides had a corner broken off and it also has two hairline cracks about midway the board that goes from one side to the other. One more problem is after taking everything out of the box, there are no parts and hardware such as the screws and handles for the doors included in the box. Again, I will say these shelves certainly serve the purpose I need them for but it’s unfortunate that I’m not going to be able to assemble the last one, which is a four door shelving as I certainly could use it now. I received the product and it was broken. The plastic pieces were cracked into small pieces all over the box. The wood was scratched and not polished properly. I called the company for them to send me the pieces I needed and they were extremely rude and told me he didn’t have time to process my claim because they closed in 30 minutes. I ended up taping it back up and sending it back.

At $43 we didn’t expect to buy a great product to begin with but what we received wasn’t worth what we paid. First thing we noticed was all four of the pvc tacks used for bottom feet were all bent, which we straightened. Unfortunately the next items like one of the plastic handles were broken in half and another scratched up. Then we found brittle and broken pieces of the door holders (used for hinges). The wood panels were scratched and peeled in areas. The only items not damaged were the metal screws, which at this rate could also be defective.Before proceeding or attempting to get replacement parts from the manufacturer I contacted Amazon Customer Service where I was issued a refund. No need to bother getting a replacement if the product was so defective.I do not recommend this product and despite being made of pressed board I’ve purchased many items in the past that were much better made.

Was pleasantly surprised that this cabinet is a sturdy quality piece of furniture given the budget friendly price point. It is easy to assemble although it does take a few minutes to decipher the instruction diagrams when starting to put it together. Am glad that I purchased two of these to help me organize storing items at home.I highly recommend buying a new one directly from Amazon as doing so gives the purchaser full support by the manufacturer. One of my two was delivered with damaged pieces (both side upright pieces were cracked in half!) and after providing the manufacturer with details of the exact cabinet I bought including Amazon order number replacement pieces were promptly shipped to me at no charge. Kudos to Hodedah for standing behind their product on this count!I will say the packaging is designed to protect the contents including carton corner and side reinforcements so this item is not "just thrown in a box". Some improvement could be made to protecting the various wood pieces as a few had minor scuffs upon unpacking both of my cabinets. Still, for the low price point quality was better than I expected.One minor note - due to the small footprint the 4 and 5 shelf version can be a bit unsteady. I expect the 3 shelf version would be more stable being shorter in height. I 'fixed' this by placing a small strip of carpet under the bottom front edge so it has a tendency to lean back slightly.Obviously I am very pleased with this item so why the 4 out of 5 star rating? The top, all shelves and bottom have exposed screw heads showing on both sides. These do NOT appear in the pictures shown on Amazon so either they are airbrushed out or the construction details have been changed without the product pictures being updated. A bit misleading here but I am okay with it given mine are used in the basement. If they were intended for use in the living room the exposed screw heads makes them look cheap and I'd be more upset that the product pictures shown on Amazon do not accurately decipt the item as delivered. I do not expect top notch furniture at this price but the product photos should at least accurately show the exact item delivered to the customer, exposed screw heads included! I have attached a photo showing the exposed screw heads on one of my cabinets in case this "feature" is a dealbreaker for other customers considering buying one of these cabinets. I will say the screw heads do look nice but still...

It was pretty easy to assemble. It was packed very well. There was a very slight dent in the box, but fortunately the pieces were not damaged. And thats shippings fault, not the vender. However, it is just partical board so it is easily scraped on the edges during assembly so be careful not to be heavy handed. Its nothing a good ol sharpy can't cover. I got te black one. For me, it will serve it's purpose, for a while anyway, but I would only purchase for say a dorm room or babies / childs room, or like myself, to store some nail supplies in my bathroom for a makeshift nail station that I only use for me, and, at a much lower price. It is definitely not the most elegant looking thing lol! But it will do fine. Fortunately all of the parts and pieces were of proper count and not broken or damaged. The magnets for the doors could be stronger and I don't think the screws that have no designated holes where the doors slide into the brackets are really needed. I also wish there was an option for the doors go on to open in the direction for what one needs them to. It is also not cut perfectly, but mine is hardly noticeable. In closing, I feel the price should definately be alot lower. Not elegant, but ok for storage.
