ACADEMY1: 35 - Bell Ah-1Z Shark Mouth USMC

Kit went together very well, panels have very good details. tail boom is slide molded, one piece, very nice. You have the option when constructing to pose the cockpit open or closed. one tip go as little darker on the main color of the craft. instructions call for sky grey, if you do that then most of the decals disappear after application. Especially after applying dull coat.

Been looking for one of these for a while at a good price. While this took some time to get here, I was in no hurry. It was safe in a package, still sealed and everything is in tact. Box looks great!

This is by far the best 1/35 USMC AH-1Z Heli out there. The parts fit perfectly together, the manual is perfectly detailed, the decals and paint options are really impressive.The surface details and plastic used in this build is phenomenal.I highly recommend this kit!

Awesome kit with tons of high quality slide molded parts which really helps to reduce your clean up time and it assists in helping you to produce a high quality finished model!

Quality work from Academy

A bad kit, don’t waste your money. Fit issues, terrible instructions, way over engineered- confusion on where parts go and how they are placed. Save your time and money and buy a Tamiya

Hmm what do I dislike about this..hmm I can't think of anything I dislike. The model is amazingly detailed, the model is extremely technically accurate. The instructions are easy to follow the care and attention to detail is excellent

I built this kit a little over 12months ago and was impressed by the level of detail, the clarity of the instructions, the simplicity of parts and with the shark mouth nose it's just a beast in 1/35.Unfortunately I somehow totally ruined a couple of the canopy pieces and only slightly ruined the rest. Don't bother trying to get replacement parts from Academy - they simply don't supply them.So here I had an almost completed Viper sans canopy and rather than trying to source parts I went and bought another one on sale. :-)I'm no AH-1Z expert so I can't speak for the accuracy, but here are a few of the pros and cons I found with the kit.Pros:* Not many parts for a kit of this size* Many of the large parts have been slide molded as single pieces - the entire tail boom is a single hollow piece, the wet wings are single pieces each, even the sidewinders are single piece.* Canopy masks included* Nice PE set for all the engine grills* If you have to use putty anywhere you're doing it wrong* 4 schemes (all grey,3 with black tails all shark mouth)Cons:* Cockpit detail is minimal (but Eduard now have a detail set inc seat belts)* Cannon barrels could be replaced with a set of Def Models metal barrels* Some debate on colours recommended by Academy* Shark mouth decals require a lot of decal softener to conform to the complex curves on the nose and turret* Needs a lot of shelf space if you have the blades open(no option to fold)Overall this an easy model to build and impressive when finished. A great release from Academy10/10
