My Hair Is So Happy

I ordered this book for my daughter. She’s having a rough time with her curls and feeling different, I thought this would be a good way to show her that she is special and it’s okay to work those curls! I do have to say that I read a review that said the book took a “religious tone” and I expected it to be this long drawn out sermon. It literally is one line about “this is what God gave me.” If you can’t decipher that the author is religious from the characters names then I suppose you would be shocked by that one liner lol. But overall the book is super cute and any curly haired little girl should own it!

I am so proud of Nik Scott and can see the wonderful blessings God is doing in her life! I'm always looking for good books with little girls of color in them to buy for my daughter because it's hard to believe but still hard to find them (Well besides Doc Mcstuffin these days;)) Anyway, Ran across this book on Nik's website and immediately bought it. Amazon got me the book in less than 48 hours! Great job amazon. The book is so cute. It has a simple message and WONDERFUL colorful illustrations. It's fun to read and I can't wait to order more for all my friends daughters! The price is reasonable and just so happy I bought it!

It is a very good book to read aloud to young children.

The book is the size of a coloring book and is filled with vibrant illustrations! I purchased the book for a friend's daughter (7 years old) who has curly hair and she loved it!I especially appreciate that the book's emphasis is on how each girl, no matter what her race is, shows the beauty in the different textures & styles. This book is good for building confidence and self esteem, but in a way that a child can comprehend.

I found this book via the illustrator (she illustrates an e-comic that I read called Tall N Curly) and decided to buy a copy for my niece for Christmas. It was a HUGE hit! She and her father both love it, and now other members of his parenting group want to know where I found such a wonderful tale of self-love and celebration for little ones with curls and coils. Excellent book. I highly recommend it!

I was so excited to see a book for little girls with curly hair. The reading is very easy for my 7 yr old niece and 4 year old friend's daughter. The book has brilliant color that catches your eyes right away. I would highly recommend this for any little girl with curly hair. They will be so happy once they read the book and embrace their beautiful curly hair.

I love the positive message in this book but it takes on a super religious tone at the very end of the book. I feel the positive message about hair out weighs this aspect. However if I had known that was an aspect of this book I probably would have bought a different book about natural hair.

I liked this book until the ending. I am not a religious person, so I was surprised to see the ending since I didn't notice anything about a religious message in the description or the reviews that I read. The rest of the book is a happy message about beautiful hair. The illustrations are cute, too.

I bought this for my girls and I liked the fun and matter of fact way the book portrayed natural hair. This is a lovely piece which I will cherish and keep for years. A definite buy to educate our young children about accepting that what God gave us is just wonderful.

How could I forget to write a review. I loved it and so did both my girls who are natural haired too.I recommend anyone buys this book - natural afro hair or not.
