Will definitely challenge you.
I began reading this last evening. Archbishop Fenelon encourages us in the way of self-denial and embracing the Cross (troubles and trials), without being superior or preachy in the least; on the contrary, he readily admits how difficult trials and death-to-self had been for himself. He encourages us with gracious ease.

Great Book For Christians
Great letters of interpretation and advice from hundreds of years ago based in scripture that easily apply today. I am always humbled and encouraged knowing that men and women more faithful than I were around long ago before me seeking to make their way thru the troubles of this world, just as we are doing today. We are not the first, though sometimes, discouragingly, it seems that way. Books like this are meant to do the things they do, give us a brother or sister's deeper insight into the Word based on personal experiences, and by the Spirit, we are drawn closer to the Truth, that is Christ Jesus. amen Truth never changes.

For those who seek a deeper relationship with God.
This Christian classic is a small booklet that is best read like a devotional. I have several copies on hand and occasionally loan it to those who hunger for a deeper relationship with God. Fenelon's advice, given in letters centuries ago, is so appropriate to today. Sometimes the titles alone are enough to stop me in my tracks and cause me to rethink my attitudes. One that comes to mind is "sensitivity to reproof is the surest sign that we need it". It is not for the people who only attend church, praise or do good deeds to feel good. It is for those who want the refining fire that removes those attitudes that hinder our usefulnes in His Kingdom.

Not for faint hearted!
This book is for the serious believer who wants to become all that the Lord wants him to be. Proverbs 27:7 ... to the hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet. An excerpt re dying to self:...He who sees in us what we cannot see, knows full well where the blow should fall. He takes away that which we are most reluctant to give up. Pain is only felt where there is life......This death to self must be voluntary, and it can only be accomplished to that extent to which you are willing for it to die...-- Honey French, Author of "Officer Honey"

Life changing look at the death of self
As a Christian believer and follower of Jesus, this book impacted me heavily. Suggested by a mentor during a dark time in my life a few months ago, it was revelatory. The author writes letters that are simple and heavy, and what i describe to friends as 'a kick in the pants'. If you're looking for peace in the will of God, if you're looking for a new perspective and are tired of chasing after your own desires, this book is for you. I carry it around with me to work, and read a letter or two almost every day, over and over again.

Life Changing!
The simple, plain words of this book are good if you struggle with letting go and just letting God be God, every minute, without fear, full of faith. This book helped me live in much more peace, by reminding me in plain words of the simple fact of God's continual power, love, and sovereign, perfect care. I found myself behaving differently after reading it, because the words and counsel of Fenelon were effective and true.

Let Go by Fenelon
This book was a great disappointment to me. Apparently this is a "new revised edition" of this old classic. I thought that it was just the cover that was changed but unfortunately that is not the case. Why they revised it only makes me wonder. The beautiful language that Fenelon wrote is simply not there. It is now written in a more modern, contemporary fashion. If you want the old copy look under the information that accompanies this book, scroll down to "Language Notes" and click on alternate "paperback" edition. The cover is tan with an ocean scene. You won't be disappointed. It's a really wonderful Christian Classic with no need of a change.

Makes good sense..
I've always found great difficulty in 'letting go' or releasing control of my life to God, never mind anyone else and I do understand from my history why this is so.But I know that I've come to rely on God, in a way that I never thought I could or would. I still, however, can not let go completely so you can, perhaps, imagine my eagerness, to buy this book. It's a series of replies to letters sent to a much respected man named Francois Fenelon whose love for God, wisdom, gentleness and way of living impacted the lives of many including the court of King Louis X1V. There are 40 replies in total, all full of very down to earth, honest truths. I've read it twice and will return to it as the reply letters are short and very easily read. They don't even have to be read in sequence. If you've only got, literally, a minute to spare you can read a reply that might actually feed into something you're going through, presently. I've found it encouraging and I'm glad I bought it.

Read this if you dare!
Read this if you dare. Someone lent me a copy, and I subsequently bought one for myself. LET GO - of self: selfishness - selfish ambition, self-love, self-consciousness, self-esteem. It's all about total submission, absolute surrender. Die to self, and you will truly LIVE. That's where true peace will be found. If it hurts - it's still alive, so LET GO!
