Charlton Heston's Hollywood: 50 Years in American Film

Jerry and I have been very staunch Charlton Heston fans and even more so ,since we read his autobiography - He had both confidence and humility in speaking about his performances - In this book we learned about a few more of his movies that we want to add to our collection! - Kaye and Gerald Cloniger

A really good read in the words of both author and Mr. Heston himself about his life in films, Hollywood, politics etc. It is vital that actors of the stature and status of Mr. Heston are not forgotten, and to be able to obtain books such as this, as well as DVD's of his film works is so important to the film world and to the fans. Sadly today there are younger people who say "I've not heard of him ....." when you speak of the star of El Cid, Ben Hur, The Warlord, and the many other characters he portrayed. The book is wonderful, the pictures (some I have not seen previously) and the man's story of his life and family serve to help keep his name in the memory of his many fans. Thank you.

This is a wonderful book full of great pictures of Charlton Heston, my all-time favorite actor. Lots of interesting information and quotes inside. A very good read about his life. He co-authored the book, so it is factual. There are some of his sketches on the inside cover. I had no idea he was an artist, although I am not surprised. The seller was awesome and the book and book jacket arrived in perfect condition. Can definitely recommend!

The quality and clarity of the photographs, captions and consise comments are superb. I feel the authors showcased Mr. Heston's work over the years extremeley well. The product was shipped promptly, packaged well, and arrived in excellent condition. The price requested was extremely reasonable. I will most definitely purchase from this seller again, and would advise anyone else seeking a high-quality product such as this to do so also. As an admirer of the subject both personally, as well as professionally, I am elated to be able to view a few of the many facets of him throughout his life.

this book was fun to read, and the pictures bring back the memories of the movies portrayed. Mr Heston speaks as if he it talking directly to you... if my copy wears out, i will buy it again! truly a good book to have, as it relates to the movies in my collections and it's fun to read the little quips and anecdotes.

This is an enjoyable overview of Hollywood and Heston's career, lavishly illustrated with photographs and Heston's own sketches. Much of the text is his commentary and explanation, making it a good companion to Heston's autobiography, In the Arena.

I like the book and it was in very good condition. I'm a big fan of Charton "From My Cold Dead Hand" Heston. The only thing that concerned me was that the book had been checked out of a public library. Not sure if a public library sold some of its stock or if the late fees just keep piling up. Just saying.

Absolutely love the quality and presentation of this pictorial filmography of Charlton Heston. What a delight to see the photos and drawings with each film, as well as the written narrative. The book itself was in excellent condition.

Ein Beispiel für ein solches besondere Foto ist in meinen Augen eines, welches Heston auf seiner Kofferschreibmaschine schreibend zeigt, die er 'all over the world' mit sich geführt hat.Ein feines Geschenk an seine Fans sind weiters die 15 an den Buchdeckelinnenseiten enthaltenen in Silber auf Weiß gedruckten, von Heston bei ihrer Entstehung datiert und signierten Skizzen, die durch etwa 20 andere Skizzen auf den Buchseiten ergänzt werden. Sie bieten ein Zeugnis eines entspannten persönlichen Blicks auf die Menschen in seiner Umgebung, meist während der Dreharbeiten, mit Ausnahme einer detailreichen Skizze der östlichen Wand der Sixtinischen Kapelle, persönlich datiert mit 7/22/64.In den breit ausgelegten Schilderungen und Darstellungen wird man ausreichend fündig. Es ist ein Buch, das bei Filmhistorikern wie auch bei Fans vermutlich länger in Griffnähe bleiben als es im Bücherregal stehen wird. Nicht zuletzt durch seinen Unterhaltungswert ist das Buch auch für heutige LeserInnen empfehlenswert.

I admired Charlton Heston as an actor from seeing him in Ben Hur. As Barry Norman CBE the Film critic said, it is difficult to portray good men in an interesting way and Charlton Heston certainly held the attention of film goers in his many excellent film productions. I was fortunate to see him in the theatre on several occasions and to meet him at a book signing of his interesting Autobiography and found him to be charming and courteous to his many fans. The post war history of Hollywood in this book, which has verbatim interviews with Charlton Heston and his wife, herself an actress of renown and his constant companion on set as a photographer, is very interesting. It was revealing of the many trials of the production teams and artists in bringing some of my favourite films to the screen.

Wonderful stuff! Heston fans will adore this.
