Rosetta Stone: Learn Spanish (Latin America) for 6 months on iOS, Android, PC, and Mac [Activation Code by Email]

Quite a while ago, I tried a previous version of Rosetta Stone's Spanish. I really liked it but then when my subscription to the online courses ran out, so did my enthusiasm.If you're thinking about learning a language, don't hesitate with this product. Unlike the old one, this is a lifetime Edition.It's sectioned off into manageable lessons that you can interact with on your phone or computer, and it will tell you in the beginning how long the lesson will be, so you can plan your day.The voice recognition in the software is excellent. As you repeat something in Spanish, there is a ring icon that will show you how well you pronounced it. For example, if you pronounce it perfectly, it will be a solid green ring. If you did it passable but not fabulous, there is a break in the ring and a fading of the color. It continues until you mangled the word so badly that it will ask you to repeat it until you get it right. Not a problem, because you just mimic what they tell you.If you're worried about the lessons being boring, they switch things up enough to where you remain interested, yet you aren't distracted enough to where you forget what you've learned, if that makes sense.It isn't about memorizing things, it's about actually learning to think in another language. And if you are committed to the program, it really works. you'll start making up phrases of your own without even thinking about it.And here's another fabulous plus, after you've registered your product, it will know how many lessons you've completed, and when you're ready, it will invite you to online interactive games with other students around the world. How cool is that?

I am not picking up the grammar. It is often unclear what the pictures are portraying or what you're supposed to do. Sometimes one form of the word is used, other times it's a different form, but it is unclear why. For all the hype over Rosetta Stone language learning, I am getting more out of the free Duolingo.

This is a great product and a great way to learn a new language. Although I took Spanish in high school, decades ago, this came back to me almost naturally as that the way this is taught is through association of pictures and situations. I appreciate the lessons and find it very engaging and easy to follow. You have to have the latest Adobe flash in order to get this working properly on your device but it is worth it. It works better in Chrome rather than in Safari. A few things I wish they would change with the courseload:1. Provide a visible bookmark option for finished courses or half completed courses within the actual course2. Don't push other products on me while I am trying to take a session3. Create a comprehensive dashboard format. Right now I have to go through so many menus just to find games and other interesting and neat things to do to help me learn SpanishI am also happy that I chose the Latin American version because I live in a large metropolitan city that has a diverse group of Latin Americans and when I speak to them in stores and at work, they appreciate that I am speaking the Spanish that they know well. There really is a big difference between Latin American Spanish and Spain's Spanish. Just like there's a difference between American and Great British English. I love that they have provided these options.Also, the stock images and storylines are fresh, diverse and inclusive. This is really very well done and engaging series. I am looking forward to taking other language courses once I complete this one. I will definitely stick with Rosetta Stone products.

This may be isolated to the Lifetime subscription, but be careful, as this item listing is misleading. You cannot download the Rosetta Stone software to your Mac or PC, despite this listing suggesting so in multiple places:1. The main description says "PC AND MAC". This implies software download, not access via web browser only.2. Under platform, states: "Windows Vista, Windows 8, Mac OS X, Windows XP, Windows 7"3. Under system requirements states: "Media: Software Download"Contacted customer support to confirm and was told I am only able to access via browser on Mac or PC. This wouldn't be so much of an issue if it were clearly stated. Online-only Rosetta stone on the PC does not meet my needs. Oh well.

Its not very user friendly and doesn't seem to register when I talk. I changed the settings to listen and talk only but it still only works if I read and click on things, vs what I wanted it for which was to talk to me and me to talk to it. I commute an hour each way per day, so I wanted to use it while driving, I cant really do that if I have to read and click on items. It seems like a really great tool for people learning a brand new language, that are going to sit down every day to use it. But I personally speak Spanish already and I just wanted something to help me brush up and keep up on it. As I don't talk to anyone that speaks it really. In any case, I cant return it and now I'm kind of stuck with something that doesn't do what I thought it would. Bummed out.

I have not been able to open it. I got bogged down when buying, so I started over. Now I have two copies, that I can;t open. I wanted it to be in in my iPad. I have an email from you congratulating me, and that I am ready to go. Not true.So now I have two Rosettas, and neither is on my iPad. I would like get refunded for the two, and get assistance inpurchasing one, for my iPad.

I liked this form of obtaining Rosetta stone so I didn't have to give my credit card number to an automatic subscription service, i just paid once and new i had a year. Rosetta stone is full immersion i.e they don't translate anything into English. They just show you pictures to associate with what you're hearing.

Great program, but you have to be willing to put in the time. I've missed doing this for about a week, so I'll see how much stuck. It will be a lengthy process, but I can see how it would/will work.
