I've purchased a few of these now. I was a little skeptical at first but having used these for half a year now I don't think I would go back to normal pots again. These are absolutely critical in preventing overwatering and allowing the roots of your plants to get the oxygen they need!

Soft, Shallow Pots that are Pricier than Competent Alternatives
This product is performs as well as other fabric pots, but costs quite a bit more ($12 at time of my purchase). Here are three things I noticed about it:1) Incorrect picture for 10 gallon pot. The actual 10 gallon pot is dimensionally shallower than the one shown. That could be a good thing, if you want stability or more surface area. I've found that the greater stability is countered by shallower stake depth.2) Soft fabric. Again, this could be a positive, if you want the pot to fill out or conform to the ground better. But the sides tend to flop down when filling. Not a big deal, since you'll only fill them once a season.3) Uncomfortable handles. Not that you'll be moving things all that much, but the handles tend to fold when you pick up the pot and dig into your skin more than flat handles. These things are still probably worth the money, but for the price, you can pick up some Root Pouches for a lot less. My impression is that Smart Pots haven't given much thought to the practical design.

Fabric pots are the best
Smart pots are wonderful, I suppose they are the most known of the fabric pots. Fabric pots are perfect for container gardening because your plants don't become root bound. This year I grew veggies in regular pots and fabric pots and the ones in fabric performed better so I plan to use nothing but fabric next year.I also love this version which has handles, they come in handy if you have to move the pot for any reason. The handles are sturdy, I've not had any issue with them breaking yet. However, I've tried other brands of fabric pots and I will probably purchase one of the other brands that is comparable to the smart pots brand next year because that brand is less expensive. But if cost isn't an issue than definitely get this brand.

Loving the smart pots!!!
I am really enjoying the smart pots. I can make the smart pot smaller by folding over the sides and as the tomato plants grow I can slowly add more soil and unfold the sides to promote a healthy plant. Anything can be grown in these pots. I'm using the 7 gallon smart pots for tomatoes, garlic, jalepenos and onions at the present moment. I really like the fact that when hurricane's come the water will run through the pot instead of building up in the pot. The jalepenos and tomatoes are growing inside because it is winter time and I have them sitting in a trash bag so when I water them I don't damage my floor or tables. I am thinking about purchasing some of the smaller ones to start my seeds in every year for my spring/summer crops. They are reusable and washable.

Jack and the Beanstalk from a Smart Pot
Receiving this product from my daughter as a gift, I was a bit dubious despite her hearty endorsements. The thing looked flimsy to me and I doubted the science behind it.My microclimate is foggy, cloudy, windy, and generally 50-68 degrees, so it's hard to grow food crops. This pot creates amazing growth! The black color absorbs any sunlight and heat, the airy pot encourages root growth and prevents the pooling and salting that can happen with overwatering in other pots, and the way plants grow in these pots is like the famed magical beanstalk Jack climbed. It's remarkable! The amaranth I planted in the gift pot grew overnight and continues to do so.Fighting the invasion of aphids cultivated by the ant people with soapy water, the amaranth aka Hopi Red Dye continues to produce seeds and to grow taller and taller. Seems like my 1,000 or so cats and squirrels don't like to climb its softness, a big bonus. It's mythical in outcome! Jack and the Beanstalk from a (Smart) Pot.

These are amazing!!
We loved them so much we ended up buying a total of 18. We planted okra in a 15 gallon one, then planted it in a regular pot right beside it. The Smart Pot okra is 3 feet tall after 6 weeks and the regular pot is about 18 inches and sickly looking. This is our first year to do a patio garden and we couldn't be happier. We have planted basil, oregano, parsley, okra, zucchini, squash, tomatoes and a huge pot of Yukon Gold potatoes. The best one has been the green pepper plants, there are three total and they have produced over and over for the past few weeks. At the end of the growing season, we'll wash them and pack them away for next year.

Best Veggie Planters EVER!!
Love, love, love! Beyond any expectations I might have had. They even do better than the two large Earth Boxes that I've used for past couple of years. The description of how the pot(s) help oxygenate and provide a natural growth for the plants was right on. OMG!! PS. I bought two, planted squash plant in each one (at the same time I'm planting tomato plants in Earth boxes--which was about 2 wks ago) and they are already bulging with big leaves, blooms and ~ 2 1/2 ft high. Oh, & the fact that they hold moisture great means less watering for me on my deck garden. Thanks!

Durable and idiot-proof.
I am probably the most negligent, inept gardener in the history of home gardening, and I've had nothing but good luck with Smart Pots. I've had my jalapeƱo plants in these since the middle of May, and they have never been as healthy as they are now. My Hot Portugal chili plant looked like it was on the verge of death when I had it in a regular terracotta pot, but after being transplanted into a Smart Pot, there's been an unbelievable amount of new growth and it is literally sagging with peppers. They're also extremely effective against overwatering. This has been the rainiest summer in years and I haven't had to move the plants inside even once. You would have to try really, really hard to overwater your plants in these.Skip the heavy, fragile, finicky terracotta pots and get some of these. Your plants will thank you.

What a fantastic product!
These smart pots really do make a difference in your crop! The effect of air pruning it has on the root system is great, it really makes a difference. Not to mention the handles make it super convenient for moving your plants around!
