Kopex TPPS15 Pipe-prep 15mm

This item is a very good quality product works really well, It cleans the pipe slightly longer than the fitting requires, ensuring that the solder runs perfectly. I have tried cheaper plastic cleaners which lost there wire bristles almost immediately. The kopex has worked perfectly now on hundreds of soldering operations and looks as though it will continue long into the future.

It's a great tool. However, spin it a little to much and the copper pipe becomes to ruff to accept the copper fitting. I sweat all my joints, after using the item to clean the pipe you somtimes have difficulty pushing on your fitting becouse of the ruffness of the pipe. Copper pipe and copper fitting have very small tolerances, so be careful not to spin it to much on the copper pipe.

Looks very similar to the Rothenberger pipe cleaner, but for less money. Have only used on new copper pipe and it did a great job cleaning the ends of the pipe, much faster and cleaner to use than wire wool, just wipe the end of the pipe after use, apply flux and solder for a leak free joint. Although not essential to use one of these it just makes the job easier and quicker, Highly recommend.

The product is supposed to reform the copper pipe rather than removing the burr. Standard Cu pipe in UK may be too thin for the TPPS15 to be able to reform the pipe.I shall probably adapt the product, but this will be beyond most people.
