I have not used this yet with the dogs in the playpen with the top on it. I plan on using this when we go camp, parks, etc. I put the top on the playpen to see what it would look like and it appears to be a good fit. It came with 8 hooks so you have one for every 1 foot of the fence to attach to the top. With this, I believe the top should not cave in inside the playpen or on your dogs. If in doubt, add some zip ties and just snip it everytime when it is time to put them away.

I wish I'd known earlier that these existed. I've used the matching portable pens for years. But a little terrier mix puppy joined our family this fall, and she was able to climb the walls with ease and escape into the house to chew on anything of value that is NOT a dog toy. I tried a couple ways to rig the pen before discovering this solution. Easily clips onto the pen...though your shape needs to be square or rectangular. Folding in half allows easier human access when cleaning inside the pen, etc.

We have two other toppers that have tabs on the ends and they are just a pain to work with- they never really lay flat, and the tabs don't line up with the x-pens so they serve no purpose. This topper is totally flat and has no tabs. It comes with clips, but I added a few more to be safe. It keeps the x-pen in a square and does its job. I use two x-pens for my labs.

After the dog freed himself from his pen one too many times we tried this and it worked. We did use zip ties on one side to further reinforce the top. No more surprises when we get home from work.

I thought I was getting a good deal on an entire cage..not just a "top." However, this item ended up being very useful for making a cage more sturdy and safe for large dogs. I recommend this product for enclosing open type cages if needed.

I have a little yorkie that is basically a monkey - no seriously I call him monkey. He could climb out of his precision cage no problem. This top has saved us from basically buying a monkey's cage for him. When you get this the cage will be shortened, but you're spoiled little monkey will be fine.

We have Chihuahuas and live in an area where there are, unfortunately, numerous large hawks. This Exercise Pen Top allows us to have our dogs protected in their outdoor pen.I feel our dogs are safer when the exercise pen is covered. It is not a substitute for vigilance, but it does add a measure of safety.

Best invention ever!!!! I foster small dogs and many are climbers or jumpers. Having the top allows for a safe secure space for them to play in an exercise pen rather than being confined to a small kennel when I can't be supervising them. As well as the square configuration, you can keep it folded in half to use on a smaller configuration (1 panel x 2 panel - for this you may need to buy some larger bold clips as you will be clipping around multiple bars).

It is a bit difficult to put on the expen since it wants to fall into the pen. Once it is on, then it does it's job.
