Really great clams!
These are by far the best canned clams I have ever had. I used to buy the supermarket ones, but I quit after having to throw out some cans that smelled very unpleasant (I don't think they were spoiled, just not very good). The Bar Harbor clams taste and smell like they just came from the ocean. We have been using them in baked clams and of course clam chowder, and they are great. My only complaint is that the can contains way too much liquid compared to the amount of clams you get.

Half empty can
I've never seen a more under filled can - after draining the liquid it is less than half full. Mussels taste fine, but poor value for the quantity of meat.

Excellent clams that aren't like rubber and taste the way clams should.
Some people who reviewed these clams have said they're too minced and too few per can. I use them for my own clam chowder and really like them and the broth. The clams taste like they should and aren't rubbery like Snow's no are. The latter are bigger, but to me bigger isn't always better. My easy clam chowder is delicious: one can of Campbell's cream of potato soup, then pour all the clam juice into the can and top off with whole milk, simmer until hot, add the clams and heat a minute more. Put a smidgen of butter in the bowl add soup and enjoy. One can always add a drop of Tabasco if desired or better yet Outerbridge's sherry pepper sauce.

MORE DIRT THAN MUSSELS
NEVER in my life have i had a food with more dirt, sand, shell pieces and other unrecognizable inedible garbage in it than this. found out about the massive grit with the first can of the case and then decided it was OUR fault for not straining and washing them. so, we opened ALL of the rest of the cans and strained the juice through fine cloth and then washed, individually by hand, all of the mussels. massive amount of garbage resulted. juice had a layer of fine sand/silt at the bottom of it but we were able to pour the settled top off and use it. not so for the mussels. tried to use them as food but the garbage was throughout them. EXPENSIVE CAT FOOD.

No sodium tripolyphosphate, for a change.
Hate nasty canned clams but have fond food memories of your mom's spaghetti and clam sauce? I feel you. When the store by my house stopped carrying these I was like "guess I buy groceries off Amazon now. They have pretty much taken control of my life." Clams are delicious and worth the extra money. You can find some very affordable olive oil on here, too. I still buy garlic and spaghetti at the store.

Bar Harbor Chopped Clams
Outstanding! They are the right chopped size, white in color and very tasty. Unfortunately, they are the most expensive on the market. In this case, you get what you pay for.

Fewer clams every time I buy this. It's really ...
Fewer clams every time I buy this. It's really a rip-off. The clams are tasty but there's not enough.

Two Stars
The can is 2/3 water. The clams are tiny pieces. Clams tasted OK though.
