Haven't needed more than this. Felt is a feature with benefits.
Love this smaller hood. I can leave it on my Nikon 200-500, and lens and 7500 fit into my Ape Case. Keep the Nikon lens hood at hand, but have never needed it. So far this hood, diminutive as it is, has done the job flawlessly.BTW, if you use this lens regularly in wildlife shooting, you might discover that the felt like material on the inside of the hood will attract dust and other small particles that would otherwise end up on your lens.

Not the lens hood I ordered...
I did not receive this lens hood... What I did get is a Tamron lens hood which is pretty much identical to the Nikon hood that came with the lens... Not sure what happened here??? Plus, this Tamron hood doesn’t even fit the 200-500 lens! Ugh! First time I’ve ever been a disgruntled Amazon consumer...

As advertised even if that isn't a great thing.
There's a reason the pics don't show this on the Nikon 200-500mm lens. It looks absolutely ridiculous and out of place. With it screwing into the filter threads instead of the outer hood threads it makes it look horrible. It's smaller than the largest part of the lens so it looks tapered and not in a good way.It's also really short compared to the original, about half, so I suspect it'll only work half as good. I've yet to get it out but I'll update when I do.It's very lightweight and that's good but it does feel a little cheap compared to OEM metal lens hoods I've used.

Does exactly what it's supposed to do. The Nikon hood that comes with my 200-500 is just to large and flimsy.

Just what I needed
Fits perfectly on my Nikon 200-500 f/5.6. The supplied lens hood was far to big and awkward. This hood is solid, well made and since the lens cap fits on the end of it I can just leave it attached permanently! Excellent product.

Screw threads were defective
Looks perfect for what I needed, but wouldn't screw onto a new Nikkor 200-500mm lens that has a 95mm front thread. So I tried screwing it onto a new B&W 95mm filter, but it wouldn't go on that either. Returned it.
