This is the ultimate resource for PT Boats!
I write alternative history and while seeking information on PT Boats I came across this gem. It has everything you could possibly want to know about the craft. On top of that, it introduced me to PT 568 which is part of the Amphibious Forces Memorial Museum in Portland, Oregon. PT 568 is the ONLY operating PT boat in the United States and is available to tour, which I did.Moored next to the covered museum housing PT 568 is LCI(L) 713 which is being restored by the dedicated volunteers at the museum. I urge everyone in the Pacific Northwest to visit these treasures. And it all started with this excellent book. Well done, David Doyle! Incident in Alaska Prefecture

Look out McHale's Navy
The photos showing restored Higgins boats are outstanding and gives the reader with the physical internals of the boats. I have seen the Higgins boat at the Museum of the Pacific in Fredericksburg, TX, and at Battleship Cove in Fall River, MA. PT Boats were truly the most compact and lethal craft in the Navy inventory in WW2. While the boats did not boast of a lot of kills against Japanese warships, they certainly made a mess of Japanese troop carrying barges. Every page has photos or line drawings with concisely written captions. A naval buffs treat.
