Okay. So I’m not saying this was a Merlot fueled purchase, but I am saying I didn’t bother to read the reviews. Okay it was definitely a merlot fueled purchase. This is a teeny tiny book and all of the recipes are all ready in Uri’s other book Breaking Bread. But it’s still very lovely and you don’t have to skim through a lot of variations and recipes to get to your favorite. I kind of wish there were some original Pesach recipes in here, which is why I docked a star. Otherwise this is great and I’d be willing to lend this out whereas I won’t even let my kids touch my copy of Breaking Bread!!!Please see the pic of my book next to a 16.9 fl oz Diet Coke for size reference.

I have had my eye on this cookbook since it arrived online and have been anticipating it highly. It is small in size but huge in content. I really appreciate the notes and techniques included within the recipes. I am finding myself, a highly proficient Jewish baker, learning so many new things about recipes I have made for as long as I have been cooking.

I'm a fan of Uri's bakery "Bread" on Instagram and if I ever visit New York his bakery is on my list of places to visit. I was excited to pre order this book so I can try and make some of his goods at home. The book arrived smaller than expected. It would have made a beautiful coffee table book to put out during the holidays if it wasn't so small. There is a lot of photos, but I wish there was more descriptive photos on the different type of challah braids or step by step photos on making the babka. This is easy enough to find on pinterest or the internet but it just would have been nice to have in the book.

I am not Jewish but have been doing Jewish baking for friends. Wanted to branch out and try new recipes and I bought this book thinking it would list what recipes go with which Holiday but it does not do that. Plus there is one recipe (didn't read through them all because it's mostly just bread recipes. How many Challah recipes does one need?) that is listed for Passover but it would be a no for that holiday because it is made with flour. Flour can not be used for Passover is what I was told by my Jewish friends. I did like that the book was small. Makes it easier for handling but very very disappointed with the recipe part. Will have to look for another Jewish Holiday baking book.

Recipes and stories for all Jewish holiday. It helps me massively and I can’t imagine my cooking/baking without this book.
