Smartronix Linkcheck Ethernet Tester

Well worth the money... I used it to test all the network ports in my home office to be solid. This allowed me to focus on and narrow down the problem in just a couple of minutes to a bad network cable that I was using (internal wire broken inside the cable) from the port to one of the machines (long story but you should get the issue here from this) . This cable had an intermittent short and would occasionally blip out on me. This item is well worth the cost and it has paid for itself in the first few minutes I had it. I paid extra $$ for 2 day shipping but received it in 4 days and that sucks, so think about that one before clicking on that when making your purchase. I am not a rookie network person and I have reasonable experience and knowledge in networks and wiring. This device is a great tool to have. I would recommend this to a friend in a New York Second!

True this is a multi-speed network detector, but I neglected to check the speeds before purchase. If you are expecting to find 100M/Gigabit detection (as I was), you won't find it here; this device is only 10/100M detection. Who even makes 10M equipment anymore??? So it is safe to say that for average users, the multispeed feature is worthless. It will let you know if a active ethernet signal is available so that's why I gave it 3-stars.

Purchased for department, the whole staff says it is a life saver

The silly part.......the wall plate in most buildings is upside down. If you like to see the 'reading' just lay on the floor, or hold an mirror under the gadget.....or buy an extension cable.....????overall bad design. Another flaw...its only for 10/100. Todays speed are mostly 10/100/1000.So in my opinion...waist off money. Designer....you are fired.

Junk. Did not work. Contacted the seller and they said they would get back to me, never did.

This is a wonderful Idea. Works well except its upside down. I have to use a small mirror with it. Otherwise it would be a five star.

the right size, accurate, and handy - well made product has never had any issues doing its function - my workers love them.
