Even though I spent sixteen months in country, attached to SF, I was never tested to this decree. My bodyguards were Essay most of the time and they were excellent at taking care of me. Well wishes for the author.

I enjoyed this book it was a great day to day account of the hardships these brave young warriors had to endure.

While just a blip of what he and his unit went through and did, it was a great read. It touched on why things were done, how, the obstacles, the good and bad. Having read many other LRP/Ranger books, I was interested how they adapted to over the terrain. If interested in the war and units like this, read it.

This book is the real deal about LRPS. The author was courageous and his adventures scary as could be. In fact, if anything, I think the author down played some of the terror encountered by LRPS. I also think he struggled sometimes to adequately describe the miserable conditions in which he operated and lived. He is just a really brave soldier.

This is the true story of brave young men. A quality that’s very rear in today’s generation. I strongly recommend this book.

Definitive, fast moving, worth the read. More detailed action reporting than elaborate drama. One of the better written chronicles of a combat tour.

Outstanding book with detail on each mission based upon the LRP SOP. Not a lot of fluff but facts and great stories..

If you served in Vietnam you would enjoy these easy read. Written at the rifle end, of a soldier. Very enjoyable read.

The book has compelling stories from the authors time in Vietnam as a part of a LRP and eventually a ranger unit. The various chapters cover various facets of life as a soldier in Vietnam ranging from combat, social politics to personal relationships. The format of the book makes reading quite easy as each chapter is not especially long but typically bears a compelling experience.
