Theory and Practice for Woman Sorcerers
A book of tremendous interest to anyone who has been intrigued by the books of Carlos Castaneda. Not only does Taisha Abelar give a female view of the nagual don Juan Matus and some members of his party of warrior-travellers, she also discloses the training she underwent in preparation for Castaneda’s party. Unlike so many who falsely claim relationships and training, this is an authentic account, giving a most interesting cross-reference to many subjects covered by Castenada himself and by his other travelling companion Florinda Donner. Sadly, the book reportedly written by the nagual woman Carol Tiggs remains unpublished, despite Merilyn Tuneschende’s sly and poisonous impersonation in three phantasy novels. Taisha describes the biological and functional differences between men and women, and specifically their intrinsic approaches to knowledge. This perspective brings clarity to the obscure forces underlying the ugly and destructive conflict between contemporary men and women. The intrinsic advantages that female sorcerers possess are also convincingly explained. This account is unflinchingly frank about the abberations that Taisha had to overcome, and outlines the tactics employed by her teachers to overcome them. For anyone serious about the Toltec goal of consciously facing infinity in absolute freedom, this well-written book is a valuable source.

Taming of the shrew
I found this book utterly powerful, enthralling and moving. Even for those who might doubt about the dreamworld, and take witchcraft as a mere fantastic entertainment, this book can be profoundly revealing and illustrative. In the basics, it's all about taming our deluded and whimsical side: our body vices, mental patterns and emotional drives. It's about a desperate struggle for self-betterment, the pursuit of an ideal of personal freedom, all along with feelings of doubt, deception, pain, and - unquestionably - love. It is also about challenging our "certainties" on the realms of reality and fantasy. It is very neatly and clearly written, with a masterful balance of detail and synthesis, and to me it says much more than the actual words convey.I must also say that had I read this book in another time of my life, I could have had varied reactions: maybe boredom, certainly disbelief, and probably I would not have grasped any sense in it. I am not into Castaneda's writing nor into chamanism - even if one of Castaneda's books is awaiting its turn on my shelf - but I fully believe by now that life is not what I have been taught, that while I think that I am awake, that I reason, that I decide, that I am independent, nothing is farthest from the truth. So, if you are a searcher of hints that can kindle small fires within, wherein you can look and maybe find some answers, then this book could be for you.

Couldn't put it down
I have read all the books by Castaneda himself, most of them two or three times. One becomes quite curious about what is going on, and over the years, I became very curious to see this situation (student of a brujo) from the viewpoint of one of the other apprentices. Taisha's book answers that curiosity of mine very well! She writes straightforwardly and in a realistic way about the exercises she was given and actually did. She is, for example, super-clear about the breathing in the recapitulation, which she completely gets across in one sentence. My only "disappointment" with the book was that she did not take us with her further on her adventure. She takes us through what must be her "preparatory courses," and to the point where she is told she is going to meet the trainee-nagual for the group that they (don Juan's group) have picked her for. That's all she wrote! I'm glad to have read it!

Amazing
This one is amazing. If you are into the teachings of don Juan Matus, writings of Carlos Castaneda, this is for you. Especially if you are a woman. The woman who wrote the book is a natural stalker. Also recommend Florinda Donner's two books - she's the natural dreamer in Castaneda's party. If you are into Toltec spirituality, you know what those two terms mean to us. Good read - female side of the story.

Faszinierend

Oldie but Goodie !
I have read this book over and over during the last decades, and always find something new to ponder. If one is attuned, as well, one can find a multitude of ways to use things we can learn here for our personal benefit.
