MatiasWired Aluminum Keyboard

I needed a fully Mac-compatible wired keyboard in order to be able to use a kvm in an OSX environment. This, with a logitech wireless mouse connected to the embedded USB hub, worked perfectly for me since Apple discontinued production of their wired keyboards.

Out of the box this keyboard has had trouble. Be it my typing speed, faulty switches, or faulty contacts, the keyboard at times double registers keystrokes. This happens most often when I'm typing exceptionally fast. Most recently (less than 2 months into owning this) the keyboard has taken to registering phantom keystrokes even when not in use - fortunately these are isolated to the volume keys. This behavior leads me to believe the double registering is faulty electronics in the keyboard and not my typing.While others have commented negatively on the feel of the keyboard, I was not expecting a 1:1 clone of an Apple keyboard. It feels more like a typical Windows laptop keyboard wrapped in an Apple keyboard design. Nothing too troubling for me, at least for the black version. Perhaps the keys on the white version are different. The real downside is the faulty electronics. For that alone I would say avoid this at $60. You can buy a used Apple keyboard for cheaper and get better quality.

I would really like to give this keyboard 5 stars, but since day one, some of the keys stutter. Mostly the "R", but sometimes other keys as well, like the "L" and "S". I have to carefully proofread everything I type or I will have some strange words. Maybe I "touch type" too fast for this keyboard. I am very old school and in "my day", I could type 80 words a minute. I never had the stuttering keys issue with other brands, but I had worse issues with those keyboards. Otherwise, I love the keyboard.

This is pretty much a 1:1 replacement with Apple's wired keyboard that has the two USB slots, which I use for plugging in my mouse. Unfortunately, the integrity of the lettering can easily give way under somewhat continuously heavy use and especially from subsequent cleaning of the key surfaces. Several keys have partially or fully worn away letters, which is why I would think twice before recommending this keyboard as a first choice for a replacement.

This keyboard is *almost* perfect. It "feels" like a Mac keyboard should. The side USB port is great for my mouse. My only complaint is that keys sometimes repeat when I press a key, like there's some electrical debouncing that isn't being done well. After a few weeks of use, this problem seems to happen more rarely, but happened with the space bar just now while writing this review, and it hasn't stopped me from using this as my primary keyboard and recommending it to others.

I bought this product, FK318B, in 2019. The part that claimed to be aluminum rubbed off and showing base plastic through metallic painting.

After using various keyboard versions I am very impressed with my Matias keyboard’s incredible ease of use, logic of the keyboard arrangement, the feel, sound and perfect size of the keys and overall high quality.Since I also value excellent customer service I contacted the company via telephone, prior to the purchase for the sole purpose to gain a general idea of what to expect in the unlikely event of a future tech support issue. I cannot be more impressed with the availability of technical expertise, friendliness and professionalism of the staff.

I have been using this keyboard almost daily since I received it. The alphabet marks on the keys have started to break and fade over the past several months. This will eventually make this keyboard unusable in few more months unless I manually write alphabet on these keys. What a pity! Otherwise it is a very comfortable keyboard.

Design is ok but keys are very unresponsive, you need to use a very keystroke.

Die Tastatur schaut gut aus, das wars aber auch schon. Die Tastenanschläge fühlen sich nicht gut an, teilweise werden Tastenanschläge doppelt erkannt sodass man Buchstaben zwei mal schreibt. Die Funktionstasten funktionieren unter Windows nicht, da ich sowohl Mac als auch Windows mit der Tastatur nutze ist das ganze sehr nervig. Für den Preis wäre echt mehr drin gewesen.
