item as described and mounted easily. works as it should. Ok so this was my second purchase of this product. The first was for my 81 jeep scrambler. No problems with install or operation. Needed another one for my 84 cj7. amazon gives same part no. as being correct so I ordered another one. Installed without a hitch, first one worked great so I didn't even test it.(rookie mistake, trust no one or anything.) I did check all wires to make sure they matched up and they did, even the color code. Reinstalled steering wheel, tested signals and left signal worked good. right signal turned on flashers. tried flashes worked correctly. Checked connections,worked correctly. tried again,same result. Unhooked and reconnected old switch without removing wheel. worked fine. Noticed that both switches were made the same so instead of returning switch. took them both apart and combined the known good wiring with the new cancelling part.(the original prob with my old one,you know " I've had my left turn signal on since 1979"). tested the connection first and worked great. Reinstalled wheel again and guess what, will not cancel again. Reordered another Delco this time. I am now a professional steering wheel remover/installer. about 10 min tops. extra work on me, poor product on standard. lesson learned. check,check, recheck no matter what.

After I ran the connecting wiring down the steering column (which is a pain in the A**) and screwed down the turn signal switch onto the column base, I discovered that I could not insert the turn signal lever into the slot provided on the signal switch. The reason being that even though I had the switch screwed down all the way, it still sat rather high to not allow the lever to properly enter the slotted notch. I returned this back. Was to be used on a 1978 CJ-5.

I've used Standard Motor Products for decades and can count on their quality. This was a direct replacement for the OEM and went in with no hitch.This item is fairly easy to install with basic tools.

Was a little worried as this was one of the cheaper switches available at the time, but it went into place and worked just like it is supposed to.Verdict - Recommend

Had to send it back, quality looks good but I took apart the car to install it and it didn't fit, had to drop everything and go to AutoZone to buy one.

Direct replacement for stock switch and harness on 1980 El Camino. Same quality as OEM. Glad to have everything working again!
