SpectrumSesame Oil, Unrefined, 16 oz

This looks good and smells fairly good but it’s unrefined so it’s got a pretty solid hit of sesame, which tastes kind of old or stale. I’ll get the refined next time which has a higher smoke point and shouldn’t have the stale flavor. If that flavor is appealing, the really potent Sesame Oil flavor then this is for you. If you want a milder sesame flavor to cook with or for all around use I suggest the refined version. I couldn’t find it at the time on Amazon so I thought I’d try this one and it works but again, the sesame flavor is really potent.Every product I’ve gotten from Spectrum Brands has been excellent and while this one isn’t perfect, it’s solid and it is exactly what it says on the bottle - unrefined sesame oil. I’d suggest using this in a wok on medium temp for veggies or meat and the heat will knock down most of the strong sesame smell. So like sesame chicken with this in the marinade or in the wok or both would work well. I’ll rate this a: Buy, Maybe, Buy. Not bad or mediocre but not perfect.

My bottle leaked a bit, about a tablespoon from the looks of the box (it did not soak through and was only a couple of spots. It comes by Air I think so there is some pressure issue that pushes liquids out of their containers, had the same issue (but much worse) with a liquid floor cleaner. . (Another bottle in the order, rice bran oil, was plastic and did not leak under the cap wrapping but it could flex with pressure, I guess. The cap seems rather short and does not cover the filter on the sides, but I guess that's less plastic! The oil tastes good. I mix it with rice bran oil (80% rice bran to 20% sesame oil) to help my cholesterol level when I cook or fry foods.Someone mentioned using it on hair, and another mentioned using it for oil pulling. Have not tried those uses yet, will have to see about those! I guess I might reorder if I don't find it at Whole Foods before my supply runs out. It is a little disappointing to see it has leaked in your box o'goodies but that's fluid dynamics I guess. Shipped quickly, pleased with seller, would order from them again.

Love this oil and use it all the time to sauté food. I've replaced olive oil with this sesame oil because it has a higher smoke-point and all the health benefits of olive oil. Also, this does NOT taste like "toasted sesame oil", this oil has almost no distinguishable taste.April 9, 2019 - someone asked in the bottle drips. I have not found they drip at all, and I have gone through probably 4 bottles now. I submitted a photo so people can see the plastic insert in the top of the bottle which I believe prevents dripping.

I love this sesame oil to make fried rice. I've tried toasted sesame oil and just don't like the taste. I highly recommend this oil if you don't want what I call a burnt taste from the toasted sesame oil. This oil has a clean taste with a slightly sesame flavor. It's great!

I bought this to add to my oil pulling recipe. I have gotten great results with my recipe. Doesn't smell to me but everyone's nose is different. Also has a tolerable taste. I mix it with peppermint and coconut oil.

I've been using this oil for about three weeks. I made the decision to purchase this after a lot of research on oil pulling. Oil pulling is the best ways to remove bacteria and promote healthy teeth and gums and I've seen the difference since I start using this oil. Will be ordering my next bottle soon.
