Listening suggestion
If you feel a little neutral about Senior, but you enjoyed Junior, try this: In your favorite audio software and/or device, try a playlist alternating the tracks between Junior and Senior. In other words, set up track 1 of Junior, followed by track 1 of Senior, then track 2 of Junior, then track 2 of Senior, and so on. I think you'll find that (a) the tracks flow perfectly, and (b) you'll enjoy and appreciate the tracks of both albums more. Works for me. Your mileage may vary.[Edit: After several more play-throughs, I think this is the best idea I've had in a long time. I'll never go back to listening to them separately.]You may have noticed there is a "hidden track" starting at 5:33 in the track "A Long, Long Way" on Senior. I'm not particularly fond of that one so I edited it out (using the freeware program 'Audacity') and replaced it with "Keyboard Milk" from Röyksopp's Forsaken Cowboy single (mp3 download).

Royksopps greatest album since Melody A.M.
Keep in mind this is only opinion, but if you liked Melody A.M. and were dissapointed with the poppier feel of their previous two albums, you will love senior. Its more introspective and dark than any of their previous albums. It focuses more on their talent as electronic producers, they were able to create something entirely unique. Its a hauntingly beautiful instrumental masterpiece..Pros:Some of their greatest tracksNo poppy vocalsThe songs are long, yet remain interesting throughoutI keep coming back to this album, it never ceases to amazeConsThe first song (...And the Forest Began to Sing) and the last song (A Long, Long Way) dissapointed me.Favorite Tracks:The AlcoholicThe FearTricky TwoSenior LivingForsaken CowboyThe DrugComing HomeMake sure you pick up their recent B-Side "Keyboard Milk" It is even better than most of the stuff on here

Even better (of course)
Senior, by default should be better than Junior, based solely on logic. Once again the new and strange end up becoming the beloved and unique. Viewing this cd as a "spiritual follow up" to Junior is an easy review, but its really more than that. Tricky two is a clear example of this idea. But Senior is so deep and almost tangible, that it, I think, will change even the biggest Royksopp fan's opinion of what Norway's best can bring us.I love this CD. I listened to it once, then put it on the shelf. Three months later, I listened to it 3 times in a row. Then once each day for three days. Each track really blends into the previous without overshadowing itself or any other track. This is the follow up to Junior, but Senior takes Junior to school.

Sort of "uneventful" but good
I think Royksopp is one of the better groups that's come along in a while. Compared to their previous albums, Senior doesn't seem to have much variety. It's pretty much all dark and moody without any "bright spots." It isn't even very "synthy." That's not necessary a bad thing but it IS a little one-dimensional. My favorite songs on Senior are The Alcoholic and Forsaken Cowboy.

Classic Röyksopp but a little sombre.
This is classic Röyksopp but is a little sombre in places i.e. a nice complement to Junior. Still gets plenty of play-time months after purchase so definitely worth the purchase in my opinion. Note: good sub required for full effect in some tracks!

Probably Royksopp's best album
While my favorite Royksopp tracks are typically on other albums, I'd say that Senior is the most complete and cohesive album. All the tracks are more grown up sounding and lack the in-your-face-vocals which (for better or worse) are in their other albums. If had to pick a Royksopp album to listen to from start to finish, I'd pick Senior.

Intricate unconventional venture.
Royksopp seems dark with this album. Enjoyable yet unconventional tracks range in this recent release. Check out Forsaken Cowboy,

Respect your elders...
Well, where do I begin...this album is just like a fine wine (cheesy to say, but ever so true)! As the title suggests "Senior" demands a certain type of respect, as with age comes knowledge and a wisdom that can only be gained by experience! The album itself commands attention, seduces and soothes the senses, whilst tempting one to delve into a psychological state and traverse a journey of memories past and present. It's laid back rhythmic nature encompasses the emotions and shakes of the shackles of the harsh reality of life's encounters...a truly relaxing and chilled out album!!! A must have for any enthusiast of quality laid back tunes!

The Exact Opposite of Junior
This is a 180° turn for Norwegian electronica-duo Röyksopp from their last studio album. Unlike the high-charged, extroverted Junior, the appropriately-titled Senior is a slow, intimate record. You could call it a return to Röyksopp's style with Melody A.M., except a more introvertive, developed aspect of it. None of the tracks have lyrics or indeed much singing at all, but the melodies are exquisite; dreamy, dark and secret. It's Röyksopp's most private, introspective record. The album sleeve, inky blackness with the hint of something in the shadows, describes it well. This is an album of secrets.

Back to their roots
Now! It seems to me Royksopp went back to their original style of Melody A.M. when the sequel to Junior was made. Again, this is another brilliant piece of work, artistry in this case. It reminds me of Melody A.M. to an extent yet obviously more upto date. Tracks like "forbidden cowboy" are superb. Tricky Two (follow fro Tricky Tricky) is a lot better and makes cool dance record for the clubs without sounding particularly commercial. This is a nice ambient and, erm... obviously grown up feel to it. Must be something to do with the title of this album.
