Good guide..if you know how to use it
This isn't the guide for you if you're new to a city. This isn't a guide to you if you want a map. This isn't a guide for you if you want something you can use as your only resource...so what does that leave? This is the guide for you if you know a city really well. If you know the areas, the streets, and the landmarks. This is a guide for you if you're willing to use another guide as a map and this one as the best listing for any restaurant in the city. This is a guide for you if you want to get off the tourist track, and you're willing to work for it. I think this would be best if you were able to plot the locations out on a map beforehand (or hey, maybe the guide makers could do that!) or if you could pair it with a cell phone. With a map. We used the guides mainly for restaurants, and they were great. Every time we ate at a restaurant from the book, it was a delicious meal. The Paris guide leans towards the pricy options (the non-pricy ones were a bit slim), but they were all really good. Just be read to work to find them, since all you get is an address.

Does seem to help with finding off the beaten path stops that locals enjoy instead of the main tourist stops which is nice
This wasn't what I was expecting. Instead of a book it's really more of a fold out pamphlet. It's mainly lists of stores, restaurants, and a handful of helpful tips. Does seem to help with finding off the beaten path stops that locals enjoy instead of the main tourist stops which is nice. Another pro is that it's small so it can easily be kept in a purse while traveling.

hidden discoveries
for years I have loved the LUXE city guides - they are the only guide "books" I buy anymore. they help balance local, cool things to do with trip advisor and other published "must see lists".

By I love Paris
This is a great little book for walking around Paris, which is a must when you visit Paris. Even if it's you're first time in the city, you must wander. It gives recommendations for drinks, coffee, croissants, ice cream, people watching, shopping, antique shops and flea markets. You don't have to have a lot of money to do any of these things. It also tells you what you must see and maybe some of the things you could pass up. Well worth $10.

best up to date travel info outside of Sandra Gustafson's books
I buy these for the cities I travel to every time we take an international trip. Small, compact and fabulous info. Highly recommend the series.

Ridiculous to pay for this information
I bought this since I was traveling to Paris. It is just a list of shop, etc. in Paris - nothing more.
