Sommernachtskonzert 2019 / Summer Night Concert 2019

I bought this mostly for the Yuja Wang Rhapsody in Blue performance, but I really loved the entire concert!

I had seen this concert on PBS and loved it so much I saw it at least 25 times on On Demand. I knew I had to get the DVD next. If you love American classical music, you will greatly enjoy this! The 1st 4 pieces are "Candide Overture" by Leonard Bernstein; Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue" featuring pianist Yuja Wang; "Casablanca Suite" by Max Steiner; and "Stars & Stripes forever" by John Phillip Sousa. It's worth seeing for the Rhapsody in Blue alone. The acoustics, setting, & music are unforgettable.

Everything arrived on time and as advertised

This is an expertly-conducted and expertly played concert of vintage classical pops, with excellent video direction. The sound, for an outdoor concert, is first-rate. Yuja Wang does a fine job in the challengingly idiomatic Rhapsody in Blue. I have just two minor quibbles. First is my strong preference for hearing the entire "New World" Symphony, rather than just one movement. Second, while I always like Chopin, I could wish that Yuja Wang had played an encore by an American composer like Gottschalk.

I watched the blu ray version on a 55 in high definition TV with an excellent sound system. The concert reproduced in this fashion was excellent. The images were clear, the color rendition was solid. The sound (dts-HD) was among the best in this series. I was impressed by the camera direction which provided variety without distracting from the music. Maestro Dudamel clearly enjoyed the music he was conducting.

Excellent concert in Vienna with Vienna Phil. with some American composers. Expensive but worth price.

The usual impecable performance from the orchestra! I wish we had a similar event withih traveling distance from my home.

I bought this to obtain visual of Yuja Wang playing the piano. Sadly there are only 2 pieces of music she is in. I hoped there would be more. However the entire DVD is near magnificent in the visuals of the festival and it’s location are fantastic (like actually being there). And of course Wang’s piano playing is out of this world virtuosity. I will stay on the lookout for DVD’s of her playing classical pieces.

As I love Vienna I can remember the city and enjoy this beautiful BD.

Superbe concert, interprétation de très bonne qualité par un orchestre renommé et dirigé par un chef exceptionnel.Ajoutons-y le programme particulièrement soigné et variant. Un franc plaisir d'écoute.
