There IS a trick - but not what other reviewers are saying
There a a few negative reviews out there and a few not-so sound suggestions. I tried them all, and came up with the actual problem with this setup, and the real work around. In it's current state, the Geekworm mSata board is functional. If for some reason you need it to be stacked with your Pi, this setup is for you. Otherwise it's less expensive to just get an external USB 3 HD/SSD case and plug it in.That said, here's the real problem with the board: It kills the onboard wireless when you use the little USB jumper included. The jumper isn't shielded and wreaks havoc on the raspberry’s wireless.(search for USB 3 shielding)I did the tests and it's absolutely true. I got flawless operation when the cable was properly shielded, or used a USB hub between the expansion board and Pi. I had a few USB A to USB A 3.0 cables around and tried them all. Some wouldn't even allow the Pi to boot, while others would just kill the Wireless. It wasn't till I put a Hub directly connected to the Pi, between the expansion board/SSD that I got flawless operation.Clearly the setup needs work, but if you NEED this stacked it works, just find a hub, or a very good A to A cable. I’ll update this when I have found the correct cable that is well shielded.

Some initial issues, but a good board...
Ok, so it took some playing and research to get this to work. First, ditch the usb connector, and use a typa a m to m usb 3 cable. Second, lookup "usb quirks" addition to cmdlint.txt. third, Noobs will boot from the sd card, but will install to sata drive. All in all, im happy, as the sata fat out runs the sd card.

Doesn't work out of the box
Even after you jump through hoops to get it running using USB quirks and replacing the USB connector with a cable you'll only get about 3 to 4 hours of operation before it starts failing. They have more work to do on this one.

should be reworked.
First: This item does not work out of the box: the included usb3-connector does not work. The "usb quirks"-entry seems to be vodoo, it disables the UAS-mode and degrades performance (may be as slow as USB2?).Second: It runs not stable, it had some crashes after some time (at least to me).
