Paired with a frame lock to stop the bike being carried away
This plug in chain cannot be used on its own, it has to be paired with a Kryptonite Frame Lock.I fitted a Kryptonite Frame Lock to my new eBike to stop it being ridden off when I stop for a break but the bike is near me. However, if I stop for a coffee I need to go into the shop which means the bike is left for a few minutes so could be carried off. I bought this chain to attach the bike to a post or bike rack and works in conjunction with the frame lock rather than have a separate lock for the chain. The chain is wrapped in a material that I believe affects the cutting power of disc cutters. One end of the chain is a loop so you can put the chain around or through a fixed object and pass it through the loop. The other end has a metal plug that is inserted into a hole in the frame lock and locks in place when you lock the frame lock. The chain does the job and adds that extra bit of security when left for a few minutes but I wouldn’t rely on it for leaving a bike for an extended period of time or overnight, that would require something a lot more sturdy and thicker. It is quite heavy so you would need somewhere to carry it like a rucksack or pannier bag.

Chunky chain good for detering casual theft. Brilliant with Kryptonite café (ring/frame) lock
Works well, very heavy ( the links are hardened and would be hard to cut ) but folds neatly into my saddlebag for easy transportation between use. The length is sufficient to go round a chunky lamppost and the end snaps snugly into the kryptonite ring ( café/frame) lock - plenty to deter any casual thief and prevent roll-away theft. The sturdy covering over the links pretty much eliminates rattling or abrasion on bike.

Solid
Does what it says, very sturdy but on the heavy side.
