Mr. Pudgins (Nancy Pearl's Book Crush Rediscoveries)

This was the first book I ever read cover to over as a young child. I've often thought about it over the 60 years since. I actually purchased it recently to re read it and found it as magical as I did at 7 years old. It was written in 1951 and would be just as much fun and imagination provoking for a child today. Highly recommend. It would make a great bedtime story book to read a chapter at a time. Each chapter is a story in itself.

Nancy Pearl's Rediscoveries are beyond wonderful! Can't leave a review on one for an OR author, but can on this one. This book was read when I was a kid, of course. It has always been a favorite and the adventures the family has with this old man babysitter, Mr. Pudgins, are crazy, fun, and when they grow out of him, it makes you cry a bit. One of my most remembered chapters is when the kids sell soda instead of lemonade. The soda comes from different faucets in the house and one faucet, after the parents return, has an 'odd' orange rust color. Or so the parents think!!! A great memory of the orange soda pop that came from that particular spigot! Am glad to get it in E form to read over and over and over.

Fun book I loved as a child

I had never heard of Mr. Pudgins until my daughter's teacher (1st grade) read it aloud to the class at school. My daughter asked for her own copy, and reads it all the time. The book makes her laugh out loud, and the adventures inside the book have spawned all sorts of imaginative activities outside of it. It's a delight to read, and comes highly recommended by my 7-year-old.

I read this book when I was 6 or 7 and loved it. No one else seemed to know this book, so when I found one years ago, I was so happy. I lost that copy but was able to find it here. Wonderful book that brought back wonderful memories!! Ever child shoud read this book. It is such a joy!!!

I love this book!, I read it as a child and loved it so much that I kept my original and read it to my children. I searched for many years for another copy since my original paperback was worn and tired. I could not find it anywhere, it was out of print. I was so excited when i received a text and a photo from my oldest son one day last month. It was a picture of my 4 year old grandson holding a new hardback copy of Mr. Pudgins and my grandson was giving me the thumbs up sign!! I immediately called my son to find out where he got it and immediately ordered one for myself and my other grandchildren. It's a ver imaginative,enjoyable book of the many adventures the children go on when Mr Pudgins comes to babysit.

I remembered this book from my 4th grade teacher reading it to the class after recess. The wildly imaginative adventures they went on stayed with me. I now homeschool my own children and I wanted some books for our own read-aloud time. I knew I wanted this and HAD to have my own copy because I'm sure we will read it many times!My kindergartner was enthralled!! It's been a few months since we finished and she is still talking about it and asking if there is more or if we finished. My younger son doesn't usually sit for stories; but he did for Mr. Pudgins!

I can’t wait to share this book with my granddaughters. It was a favorite of mine in my childhood, and I have never forgotten the story. A very fun book. I always wished Mr.Pudgins could come and babysit for me.
