Hi, 781 is not designed to be used for these applications. The only product we have that has been tested and designed for this specifically would be Geocel Aquaria.

Q: Which is safer/less-reactive for food/water contact, '781 drinking water safe' or '786 food grade'? do they stay safe exposed to boiling water?

not about safe chemical wise but not as a sealant cos once hot it leaked for me and i repeated the job twice

This is a pretty versatile sealant and is capable of sealing most gaps. However, you don't say whether the gap is between the cooktop and a worktop or somewhere different. We have a ceramic hob and it is sealed using this type of material against the worktop upon which it sits. It is not suitable for exposure to flames or high heat. The sealant tube is very rigid and so it needs to be used with a sealant gun. These are relatively inexpensive and can be found on the Amazon site.
