Meisel COM-250 Metrotuner - Chromatic Tuner and Visual Metronome

It fit great on my scroll and is easy to read. But I expected it to work for more than 1 year. I'm not buying it again.

Not sure what prompted some of the harsher reviews on this tuner....(perhaps quality control means some bad ones slip thru)..... The tuner I received works quite well.I tested it against three other tuners....all known to be accurate....and the Meisel matched almost exactly to all of them....showing no more than 1 cent..(one small bar)...difference in only a couple of tonal ranges. When attached to my violin peg head, it provides a bright, easy-to-read view.If you are a beginner and plan to use this as a visual reference of whether-or-not you are "on key" with your fingering....be sure to use it only when you are playing longer, smoother notes. Like all vibration sensitive tuners, it needs at least a small amount of steady tonal vibration to register...and while experienced violinists almost always hit their notes cleanly....beginners do not.You CAN use this as a practice aid to help with your intonation......(ignore the naysayers, using a tuner to help learn intonation is no different than having a teacher yell "sharp" or "flat" at you)......as long as you concentrate on the sound while you look at the tuner.

I use this for both my guitar and my daughter's violin. Love it. Large, clear display and solid construction. Having been disappointed with other mfr's designs that break in less than two weeks, this was a welcome change.

This is my fourth Meisel tuner, but may be my last. This one really is fussy compared to all pervious versions. Not happy with it at all.

Works great! It is just a little complicated to figure out how to use all the buttons and how to get it back to baseline if you happen to hit the wrong buttons. Once you get the buttons figured out, it s super and for beginners like me, having the meter visible at the end of the fiddle makes it a lot easier to adjust finger positions to get the right note. It also makes tuning for a beginner easy and intuitive.

Very easy to use and very easy to read. A perfect tuner for a violin and much better than using a guitar-type tuner.

The tuning is off. Not a help for advanced players needing to be perfectly tuned to play in chamber groups.

I own one of these (didn't get it from Amazon - they were out). This is very easy to use and spot on. Clip it to the scroll of your violin, adjust the display and tune! My other tuner left my ear wondering what it was "hearing" as opposed to my ears! I always felt slightly off after tuning, but not with this. It fits neatly into my small violin case. Buy it! You won't be disappointed! Meisel knows bowed instruments better than most!
