Please read this review! Especially if your contemplating this purchase, or having issues of your own.
UPDATE!! I am leaving my original review at the bottom of this post so you can see my issues in the beginning, and it was originally listed as a ONE star review. As you can see in the comments of my review, I was contacted by the VP of EatSmart. WOW, all I can say is this has got to be the most impressed I have ever been with a company, their commitment to their products, and satisfaction of their customers. First of all, my review was accepted and posted by Amazon on Sunday morning, by Sunday evening the VP had already read and responded to the post. His response was fair, prompt, and over the top in customer service. After a couple emails I had been provided step-by-step instructions to try with the scale. It WORKED!! I have intentionally delayed my update to my original post so that I was able to monitor the consistency and reliability of this scale after re-calibration. The scale has been very consistent, I feel like I can trust the reading I'm getting every morning and without a doubt can recommend this company and this scale as being high class, top of the line quality. If you considering purchasing this scale or ANY EatSmart product I feel that you cannot go wrong as they really do stand behind their products. Kudos to you EatSmart, its nice to see a company that makes a quality, reliable product and provides the excellent customer service that you do. Here is the information the VP sent me regarding the re-calibration of my scale. It sounds extremely simple, but it was the difference for me between a 1 star experience and a 5 star experience. If I could, I would give the scale a 10 star rating... Quoted from email by EatSmart VP "So with this model when we have issues with fluctuations or inconsistency it generally related to one of two things, either flooring or calibration. The first thing I would do is reset the unit. Pull all of the batteries out for at least one minutes to let the scale completely reset. While the batteries are out check that all four feet are securely attached to the unit. Then put the batteries back in and place it back down on a hard, flat surface. The hard floor is really important....optimally you want either hardwood, ceramic tile or concrete. Stay away from softer floors like linoleum and vinyl if possible. Then proceed to calibrate the unit as follows (this part has to be done any time the scale is moved). Step/tap down on the scale and press on it with your foot so the scale 0.0 displays (but don't step on fully). Then let the scale turn off (this auto-zeros and calibrates the scale). You can then step on and weigh yourself. Weigh yourself two or three times in a row to see if you have consistent measurements. Let me know if this improves things at all. If you are getting good consistent measurement its a good sign the load sensors are acting normally. " He had also suggested the use of a ceramic tile under the scale if the flooring under it was not solid enough for proper reading without fluctuation. If you have an EatSmart product that your having issues with, please check out the comments to my post, and call the company. I'm confident they will take care of you. And for the record, I do not work for this company or have any stake in their profit/loss. I'm just one customer that had a great experience and want to give credit where credit is due. Thank you so much William for the service you provided for me. My Original review, as posted on 9/9/12... As mentioned in my review, I really wanted to love this scale. It looks beautiful, feels solid, and is very low profile... all great wins in my book!! I put it on my bathroom floor and was getting unreliable results, I noticed the linoleum did have a little give to it so I moved the scale to my bedroom where I have solid hardwood. Scale rests flat on the floor, no wiggle at all. I calibrated the scale in its new location as directions indicate, stepped on the scale and walla!! an accurate reading... WONDERFUL!! Three hours later, after diner, I was curious how accurate it would be with a recent meal. I LOST over 30 pounds in 3 hours!! I stepped off, let it shut off, stepped back on... Now I lost ANOTHER 20 pounds. A total of 50 pounds LESS than what it read 3 hours earlier. Okay so thinking maybe its bad batteries, I changed them out for my old faithful brand new, fully charged enloops. Calibrated the scale again. Now I was back up 20 pounds, but still off 30 pounds from my accurate weight. I'm sorry, I really wanted to love it, but I'm trying to lose weight and I cant trust this scale to give me accurate results. Back to the drawing board for me... if anyone has any suggestions on a great scale please leave a comment for me. Please only scales that use traditional batteries, none of the flat coin style batteries.

Cool Scale
Yes, I did receive an e-mail from the company about a month after my purchase to rate their product on Amazon. Ok. Why not? They explained they are a small American company. It only takes a moment of my time and I really don't mind. I for one, almost ALWAYS check out reviews on Amazon before going to the store to make my purchase on a product. So now for my review. As others have said, this is a nice looking scale. It came well packaged and was ready to go right out of the box. I found it very easy to set up as well (one thing I was worried about was entering my height as I have a 0.5" increment in my height, but the scale lets you enter height in 0.5" increments - hooray). In the past 6 months, through proper diet and regular exercise I've lost 43 lbs. I became curious about what my body fat % (I had it tested years ago at a health fair with an electronic hand held device to find I was about 34% -boo) might be and found this scale and took the plunge after reading other reviews. I have not had my body fat tested in many years and especially not since shedding some major pounds but I had an "idea" of what I might be based on some calculations where you measure different parts of your body, enter your age, gender, height, etc... I thought I was about 20% before ordering the scale but wasn't really sure. (If it helps any reviewers I'm a 30 year old female, 5'5.5" tall, and currently weigh 125 lbs). When I first received my scale, I decided not to set myself as athlete, based on the other reviews, though I consider myself a somewhat avid exerciser now. I stepped on my old scale 3 times and the new scale 3 times. Perfect match. I got six identical weights. Check. Next I waited to find out my body fat % - I got a reading of 19.9% - keeping in mind from what I read that electronic body fat testing can have a margin of error of about +/-3% (I don't know what the particular margin of error is for THIS scale, but this is in general for most electronic devices). I was already prepared to except the fact that this number might not be correct. I recorded the number and continued to weigh myself in the morning (for accurate weight) and in the evening (for body fat%) and began tracking the number. I found that the scale was consistent in body fat% readings only changing the number by about 0.1% or none each day. Hooray! All I want is something to track my PROGRESS with and this scale fits the bill. I'm happy to say that in one month, I managed to get my body fat% down to 19.3%. It seems reasonable to me with the work I've put in to lose 0.6% in one month. Also, muscle mass went from 39.9% to 40% - one of my body builder friends tells me it is difficult for a woman to put on more than 5 lbs of muscle in a year, so I don't expect this number to change much either (though I do lift heavy weights 3x a week). As another reviewer noted when you are looking at your percentages - yes, they will total more than 100 when you look at body fat, muscle mass and total body water. That is because you have some water in your muscle and your fat as well so this water technically gets counted in your muscle and your fat and then all by itself (i.e. it gets counted TWICE), thus explaining why the totals are greater than 100%. Hope this makes sense. So overall, I'm very happy with my purchase. It's a sleek-looking, fun gadget that helps me track my progress as I work towards my long-term health goals. I also like the fact that you can just step on it and stand there and it will come on. No tapping, no buttons to push. Just step on it and get your info. Awesome. My husband also likes the scale and his numbers seem to be fairly accurate as well. The scale is "smart" enough to know who is stepping on it. Because my husband outweighs me by about 50 lbs when he steps on it, it automatically knows "user 2" is on the scale as opposed to when I step on it, it automatically figures out I'm "user 1". This might be an issue if two members of the household have near identical weights, but otherwise, you just step on it and it's ready! No switching to your user self number or anything. Ingenious! I originally had trouble deciding whether to get this scale or keep my old scale and purchase the hand held body fat tester by Omron. Well, I've never tried the Omron product, but am happy with this scale. It gets the job done and I wouldn't hesitate to buy it again. UPDATE 5/3/13 I was reminded to update my review after someone left a comment. My scale is still running on the original batteries. I finally reached my goal of 6 pack abs around 17.5% body fat on my scale. I then got pregnant and didn't use the scale for that period (as recommended by the manufacturer), but hubby did. I'm now 9 months post partum and am back to 19% bodyfat and close to my goal of returning to six pack abs. Last month I went to a health fair and got to use the Omron hand held device for bodyfat%. The Omron was 1.5% higher than my scale. But again, I care less about exact numbers and more about trends and consistency, which this scale delivers! Recommended.

Great scale for any price~
I purchased this scale because I wanted to make sure that I wasn't losing muscle mass while working out. i.e. going into starvation mode. I am more than pleased with the performance of this scale. The measurements are consistent over time, and I can see the gradual decline in weight and body fat percentage as I proceed in my diet. Here are cliff notes of useful comments I have read about this product: Unless you are an athlete (club level or higher), use the standard body type option. You need to calibrate the scale every time you relocate it. Just step on and off. It auto-calibrates. The best time to measure weight is in the morning. The best time to measure body fat percentage is in the afternoon, before dinner. The scale itself is beautiful, and has a very simple and responsive touch interface. I only have one minor gripe: 1. You can't get a body fat reading until you enter a profile. (age, height, body type). >>> This is annoying when I'm showing a friend the scale, and I have to create a profile just for them. But it's an understandable limitation of all BIA (bio-electrical impedance analysis) devices. Without knowing the height and age, there's no reference point from which to calculate the BF%. It would be cool if there was a 'guest' mode where I don't have to go back and delete the profile later. Overall, this is a great product, and very reasonably priced compared to scales with comparable features. The unit is well built and beautiful to look at. Packaging was thoughtfully laid out and it works out of the box. I would recommend spending a few minutes to read the instructions, but after that, you are good to go. One of the best features is that it will remember your profile as soon as you step on the scale. You don't need to manually select which profile to use. I have been combining this scale with Fitday to monitor my activities, calories, etc. and the two items have been tracking surprisingly well together. I.e. 3,500 calorie defect = 1 pound of fat loss. This is my personal opinion: if you want to lose weight, you need to incorporate dieting with a healthy lifestyle. That means tracking what you are eating, how many calories you burn from your activities, and ensuring that you are losing fat and not muscle. Once I discovered how many calories are in a glass of wine, or a McDouble from McDonald's... well let's just say I'm not eating fast food or drinking as much.

High Quality Precision; Excellent Product
Update: Before you read the below review, I am updating it with my observations after 2.5 years of use. I just retired this scale in favor of a physicians beam style scale*. I will be keeping the EatSmart nearby to keep an eye on my bodyfat levels/hydration from time to time, but over the months I began to notice a lot of issues with the scale's accuracy and repeatability. Specifically, the scale would begin to give lighter and lighter readings over time (which seemed "correct" because I was "dieting", right?? Not so much.) A calibration or change of batteries would always result in a 5 to 7lb uptick in weights measured. When I checked these changes with other scales, I found the uptick to always be accurate. Therefore, I stopped trusting the scale's accuracy on a day-to-day basis unless it had been very recently recalibrated. Overall, it just seemed too unreliable for the type of finely tuned weight tracking I need to do to keep my body the way I like it. I am downgrading my review to 4 stars due to this nuisance. * See my review of that device here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-reviews/R1H27IKIXVIGF6/ref=cm_cr_pr_rvw_ttl?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B001394XE6 This is by FAR the best scale I have ever owned. My husband an I are both avid fitness enthusiasts and our weights do not fluctuate very much, but we both like to keep a strict eye on our statistics and it is therefore very important to us to have a scale that is precise and consistent. Having a scale that fluctuates by even as little as a half a pound with only a few seconds between measurements is of no value to us, yet this seems to be the case with so many products out there. Not so with the EatSmart Precision GetFit scale. This scale is very precise. I can step on it numerous times and the reading is the same. Then if I put on an article of clothing and step back on, it will register an additional .2 or .4 (or what have you) pounds reflecting that I'm now "heavier". Therefore, I know that this scale doesn't just "remember" my first weight and duplicate it like so many others. If you need a PRECISE instrument to measure your weight, this is it. With regards to the numerous complaints/observations over the body fat %, muscle mass and water weight functions of this scale, I would say the following: -The ONLY way to get a truly accurate measure of your body fat % is with DEXA scan or Hydrostatic test. Caliper/skin fold tests have a high likelihood for inaccuracy because there are many factors come into play such as your body's own fat storage patterns vs. the formula used vs. the chosen pinch sites as well as the skill level of the person administering the test. BIA is also notoriously unreliable due (again) to fat storage patterns and the means of administration of the electrical current. For instance, hand held devices tend to more accurately read your upper body while scales you stand on tend to favor your lower body. Therefore, the many comparisons of the "accuracy" of the EatSmart GetFit product with the accuracy of other completely different methods, simply aren't valid. If you are looking for a BIA means of testing body fat % you need to understand that you will get a TRENDING TOOL only. As trending tools go, when you follow the directions set forth in the manual, I have observed this device to be very consistent from day to day. -The "athlete" mode means just that...ATHLETE. Like others have pointed out, even if you are a regular fitness buff, use the normal mode. As an example and means of comparison I can tell you that I am a 40 year old female who does 5 to 8 hours of cardio/week and 7 to 10 hours of weight training/week. I am 5'5" tall, have visible muscle definition throughout my body, but I am not "shredded". I weigh 116lbs. The "athlete" mode reads me at 12.5%. The normal mode reads me at 17.3%. I believe in actuality I am somewhere around 19% to 20%. So, as others have observed, this scale reads about +/-2 or 3% low. I also store most of my extra fat in my torso and upper arms, which could be the reason that it is low for me and also for the many male reviewers who found the same thing. I believe the advice that some have received from the customer service staff to trick the machine by setting your height lower is an excellent solution for this "problem". For me, I prefer the ego stroke of leaving it as is and feeling GREAT about my "sub 20%" body fat level. :) End of the day, the device provides consistent readings so I can tell if I'm making any progress over long periods of time. -As it compares to other BIA scales I have owned (and I have tried several), this one is the closest to what I believe to be reality and provides the most consistent readings. Just remember to always take such information you receive from a silly bathroom scale that you paid $50 for with a few healthy grains of salt. The technology simply doesn't exist for perfectly accurate reading at this price point and level of convenience. As others have noted, this scale isn't as convenient if you are the type of person who puts your scale away every day for you will have to recalibrate it whenever you move it. Leave the scale in the same place permanently and you are golden. The scale is very well made and substantial. Also, expect to see fluctuations in both weight and muscle mass/hydration levels if you weigh yourself multiple times a day. The food you eat, the fluids you drink and your daily activity level all effect your weight and body composition. It is unreasonable to think otherwise and expect a scale to spit out the exact same statistics at you throughout the day. As with most electronic devices, it can be very hard to control for quality at the point of manufacture and it looks like this product is no different judging from the amount of "lemon" reviews. But the willingness to and interest in rectifying those unfortunate situations by EatSmart staff seems to be what sets this company and its products apart and that was the reason I was willing to give this scale a try. Luckily for me, I received a beautiful product that worked perfectly right out of the box. I highly recommend this product. And if you do get a "lemon", I wouldn't hesitate to have it replaced and hope for the best. The odds seem pretty low that you would get two defective scales in a row.

great scale
UPDATE: 7/10/2016 - I've had this scale for around 3 years. The rubber feet issue is still a problem. While EatSmart sent out replacement feet - those too eventually tore. I appreciate the company has great customer service and responds to problems but this is a fundamental problem with this scale where it will over time break. The scale no longer becomes accurate because the metal portion inside the feet fall out. This piece is required to get an accurate measure of your weight. I am changing my score from 5 to 1 because of this. Again while they have great customer service and support - the product is not worth the gamble. UPDATE: 6/15/2014 - I've had this scale for a year and noticed the bottom rubber foot tore and the small metal fitting inside fell out. This caused the scale to show incorrect results. I contacted EatSmart and William the Vice President of the company emailed me back within 24 hours offering to have the scale replaced/fix by them or have a new rubber foot and metal fitting sent to me. I opted for the replacement parts sent to me; and I received the parts in under 3 days. It took under 5 minutes to remove the screws from the bottom of the scale, gently pry the scale apart and place the new rubber foot and metal fitting in. Works and functions just like it originally did. Appreciate the excellent customer service and standing behind the product they sold to me. I had a previous entry model of the EatSmart scale and it worked great but I've been wanting an estimate of my body fat %. Have been working out for years now and never really looked to find what my bf% was. Well the scale shows I'm at 9.8% body fat - 5'9, 168 lbs, 35 yrs old. I estimated I was around 10-11% so this isn't too far off and really this is more about seeing if you are going down rather than an absolute true number. The scale itself is very easy to use and setup, you simply step on it to get your weight then set your age, fitness level, height and it then gives you your body fat %, water weight, muscle mass and bone weight values. Previous reviews stated you need to exercise 12+ hours a week to be considered 'athletic' - which is the 'fitness level' it asks during setup. Well it looks like they changed this because now the manual states it requires 15+ hours a week to be considered athletic. I workout 2 hours everyday * 6 days so I don't meet the 15 hours, but it also states if you have been working out for several years consistently then you are also considered athletic; which is the setting I selected. Really a great scale and if you are at all interested in your health you should consider getting this scale.

Amazing scale
I have been looking for a new scale for a long time, our current scale just was not doing it anymore, it was a analog scale. We have had electronic scales before but never was happy with the reliability of them. Plus I hated I had to press the scale, wait a few seconds for it to turn on and reset then step on the scale. Not with this one though! . I was searching scales on Amazon and came across the EatSmart scales. I thought they were nice looking scales with very good reviews, I saw this one that measures body fat ( and more I later found out ) and since I am starting a diet, I wanted a scale that can do this. I just got the scale last night, so this is just my first impressions, and will update my review later. First thing I noticed when I took it out of the box was the photos on Amazon do not do this scale justice. Its the most beautiful scale that I have ever seen. The design and build quality are amazing. At first I saw a round hole in the bottom and I did not know what it was for until I picked it up from the bottom and realized that was there to put your thumb in to make the scale easy to carry. The fit and finish on the scale is exceptional. I put the batteries in and then I noticed that the buttons on the top, were not separate buttons, but touch sensitive buttons through the glass, so there is no way for the buttons to get dirty, and make for it to be easy to keep the scale clean. I put the scale down and it auto calibrated. I entered my data and my wife's data and told the scale that I was on it the first time so it would know who I was, and now it auto recognizes me like it states and gives me my readings. I step on the scale, it shows my weight, wait 3 seconds and then it does the body fat scans... I love the instant step on. Step on the scale, and it gives you your weight, no extra steps required as with normal electronic scales. What I love about the scale, I love how the scale not only measures your body fat, but it also measures your total body water, muscle mass and bone mass. I love that you can just step on it and get your readings. I love the auto recognition feature I love the design, down to the thumb hole on the bottom to make it easy to carry. What I don't love about the scale... Cant think of anything that I do not like about the scale. The last thing I will say which really made me buy this scale, was not just the positive reviews, but also the negative reviews. The negatives reviews made me think wow, I need to get this scale, and why would that be? Customer service! I am blown away at how people would post negative reviews then update them and say guess what, within hours of posting my negative review I got an email from the President or VP of the company apologizing for the problems and working with the customer directly to resolve any issues and ensure they got working scales and the customers are happy. And you know what? I would say 90-95% of the people who started off writing negative reviews changed the reviews from negatives to positive reviews because of the help or replacement scales they got from Eat Smart. Its not often that you come around a company that is that pro-active and that is this gung-ho about helping their customers and doing what needs to be done to make the customer a happy customer. So if your looking for a great scale, read the reviews and how great the customer service is. I do see some new low reviews, and don't know if the company has reached out to these people or not, but one thing I do not see in a lot of this new negative reviews is if they contacted EatSmart for support. I bet you if they had, EatSmart would have helped them resolve the issue instead of just sending the scale back. Again, I have only had this scale for a day, and this is just my initial observations of the scale and I will update my review later. But I say if your looking for a great scale, look no further. This is the one!

PERFECT!! Great Product & Amazing Customer Service
So, I received an e-mail sometime after my purchase to rate this product. And I ALWAYS check out reviews on Amazon before purchasing anything, and It only takes a moment of my time to write a review, so I really don't mind helping others, and showing my gratitute for a great product, so I wrote this review (Because there are lots of bad products out there!!!) First, let me say I've been using this scale for over a year, and this is a great scale. It digitally displays your weight, which is very easy to read. The numbers displayed are bright and large, which is easy to read when you do not have a light on. I've used this product to track my weight, and in the process I've lost 30 pounds. It is a great tool to accompany diet and exercise. It helps to give you an idea of your muscle percentage and body fat percentage by using an algorithm in combination with your current weight and the speed of how fast an electric pulse moves through your body (you don't feel a thing!). This is great, because you know if you need to lift more/add more wights to your workouts or do less cardio in order to maintain/increase muscle. It is also great that you can see your body fat percentage, so you know if you should increase cardio, or increase high interval cardio. I love the fact that the scale tells me my body fat percentage and muscle mass percentage, and is very accurate. No scale is perfectly accurate, necause you need a blood test for perfect accuracy, but this scale is very, very accurate. I tired two or three scales and I like this one the best, It is the most accurate and consistant (when used on a flat surafce, such as a hardwood floor or bathroom floor.)It is very easy to use, and is at a great price! After about two years my scale stopped working, it wouldn't read my weight. I was angry and voiced my complaint to customer service. Within an hour, the president of the company (William) personally reached out to with a phone call, and FedEx'd me a new scale. I love that he puts the customer first. Great Company! As for the people who gave this product a low rating, I do not think they calibrated the scale correctly lol, it is simple to do, the instructions come with the scale. All you do to calibrate the scale, it put it on a flat surface, then step on it, then step off, and then after the back light comes off, the scale is calibrated. I think if they followed these easy steps and calibrated the scale, the scale would work the way it was made to, and they would of gave it a 5 star. I am glad to write this review because the product is great, and the customer service is fantastic. I will recommend this to all my friends, family, and people at the gym! Thanks Will! Bottom Line: I would greatly Reccomend. I give this product 5 stars for it's accuracy and consistancy, and would give an additional 5 starts for customer service if I could.

Terrible product for measuring fitness
I gave this product 2 stars because of its sleek design and because there is at least ONE feature on it that works with accuracy and consistency. The only reason I didn't give it 1 star is because to me, 1 star represents the lowest rating a product can be given and it just wouldn't be fair to say that this piece of equipment is completely useless. First off I have to say that, I really wanted to get excited about this scale, but the measurements for body fat, total body water, and muscle mass percentage, just didn't seem accurate. I followed the recommendations for measuring my body fat, total body water, muscle mass percentage, etc. but no matter what I tried to change in terms of my habits, the readings were always the same. For example, I entered my profile: 5 feet 3 1/2 inches tall, 40-year-old, female (non-athletic). According to the scale, my weight was reading out at 115.4 pounds, body fat percentage measurement of 18.5%, total body water of 57.0%, 36.6% muscle mass, and 4.4 pounds of bone. The reading didn't seem bad to me. According to the norms charts, all of the readings seem to have me fall within the low to normal range except for total body water, which was in the high range. So the problem I was faced with was the fact that no matter what time of day I stepped on the scale, or how much I changed my food or fluid intake, exercised or didn't exercise, NONE of the readings in fitness mode, ever changed. This is quite troublesome to me because the only reason I purchased this scale was for its ability to measure all the elements featured in Fitness Mode. I am a personal trainer and wanted to use the scale to help my clients reach their health and fitness goals. Before doing so however, I wanted to verify that the readings would accurately reflect the changes that my clients were sure to experience with all the hardwork they would be doing to improve their diet and exercise routines. If the measurements were somewhat inaccurate but consistent in its inaccuracy, it wouldn't be as much of a problem because I'm trying to measure progress over time. However, because the measurements don't change over time, it renders this feature useless because I don't have the ability to track progress or regression. I don't know if perhaps, I got the one scale that was a lemon. I have read other reviews and other situations in which the scale had some kind of malfunction. I'm not sure if that is the case for the scale that I received, but unless I hear otherwise, I will just have to assume that the scale doesn't do all the things that it claims to do. The one feature on the scale that does seem to work is the measurement for weight. It is the only setting that fluctuated in a way that made any sense according to the different things I did (e.g., eat and drink more or less food, putting on or taking off articles of clothing). I also measured its accuracy along side another medical grade scale and both readings were consistent with each other. So, on the upside, the scale is great for measuring weight, but that's just about it.

Buena báscula
Al parecer es buena la presición y el costo no es muy alto. La desventaja es que no almacena las lecturas ni las transmite a algún dispositivo inalámbrico, aún así la proporción calidad-precio es favorable.

I have tried many other scales using BIA technology & I think this Eatsmart scale is almost accurate. The results are almost similar to the manual calliper test. Definitely a good purchase if you want to achieve & track your fitness goals.

Consistent and good value weighing scale
Got this scale a few days ago and so far it has been reliable. When I first put in the included batteries, it showed 'Lo' on the display so I thought they sent bad batteries, but after checking the voltage levels with a multimeter the batteries were fine. I re-inserted them into the scale and it worked just fine. The weight readings as well as the body percentage readings have been consistent so far, and I'm confident using them as a point of reference to measure my fitness progress. The booklet they included provided detailed instructions on how to set up the scale as well as explains what each reading means. Overall, I'm very happy with it!

Sleek looking scale for the data nerd
I've had this product for about 5 months now. It gives consistent measurements and it looks fantastic. No complaints. Other thoughts: I thought about giving this 4 stars because of the inherent inaccuracy of Bio-Electrical Impedance Analysis in determining body fat, but I knew that when I purchased the product. What is important for me is that the body fat measurements are consistent. If I step on the scale two minutes apart, my weight and body fat are the same each time. That, in combination with looking in the mirror and judging how my clothes felt is all I wanted/needed from my scale. That being said, I don't know that shilling out the extra money for the body fat analysis is worthwhile for most people. If you really need body fat measurements, generally speaking, callipers, properly used, will give you a more accurate assessment than any BIA scale. Most people don't need to know body fat though; checking the mirror, comparing the day-to-day fit of clothes, and consistent diet and exercise (whether attempting to gain muscle mass or lose body fat) is more than enough. All the extra data is just for fun, unless you're competing, in which case it may be beneficial (but again, a BIA scale likely isn't the best option for competitors). As for the accuracy of the scale, I have compared it with the weight measurements given at various other machines (both mechanical and electrical), and all of the measurements were within a couple pounds of each other. If you just want accurate weight measurements; however, you might opt for a cheaper scale without all the bells and whistles of this one. Oh, and it looks awesome. Absolutely no complaints there. If you're a data nerd and you want a sleek-looking scale, this is the one for you. If you're just looking for a basic, accurate scale, keep looking because you'll overpay for this one.
