Does okay, but I have other programs that work better
1. I bought this in a retail box, new, at a B&M store. It was on sale or otherwise I would have been "less than happy".2. But I was "less than happy" to find out this was the "standard" version, and there was also a deluxe version.I did not notice any indication that there were other versions, that offered more functionality.[Most programs have a chart with all versions shown, side-by-side and then place tick marks next to each one's functions,so you can quickly see how much more [or less] the different versions have in comparison to each other. The MSRP for standard was about $29.99 and for deluxe it's $69.95 download, $79.99 CD. Too Much. The price to upgrade from standard to deluxe was $29.95. Ouch.Adding insult to injury.3. A multifunction type of program, somewhat like Quick View Plus 8, by Avantstar. If you are looking for a program that allows you to view file formats of programs you don't have, I like Quick view plus better.Second, there is some ftp functionality and other options within Diskjockey file viewer.4. A better program [IMHO] is Novatix's EXPLORER PLUS.From Mike Kronenberg, founder of the former Mijenix, if I rememeber correctly. You get a:-zip/unzip,-FTP,-5 choices of pane views;single, over&under, side-by-side,[multi-pane views].-file/directory synchronizer-file previewer screen-encrypt/decrypt-drive mapping-etc5. Vcom offers their version [based on same sourcecode as explorerplus, but not as nice[IMHO] as Novatix's product]. Vcom's product is called Powerdesk.Comes FREE with the Systemsuite 5 or 6 product from Vcom.6. Then there's Directory OPUS.Said to be a good program, but requires more intervention by the enduser then explorer plus or powerdesk.7. Totalcommander - is yet another file manager utility. The version I demo'd had a sort ofwindows 3.1 file manager, "blocky", squared look.I think Christian Ghisler is the maker/developer of TotalCommanderWith so many other products out there, I'd pass on this one.A near perfect match would be:- Quick View Plus 8 [to view program files of almost any format] and- ExplorerPlus 6 [my favorite all-in-one file manager utility]Just my 02 cents.

This program is in need of an upgrade...
I purchased this program back in 2004 from Compusa. I got the so-called DELUXE version. At the time it was okay. I later found POWERDESK and liked that better. However, I kept F/V on all my machines because of the viewers it contained. Now, 4 years later the program has not been upgraded and it DOES NOT work reliably with Windows-Vista of any flavor. I am a police/Detective and I often have to download files from various victims surveillance cameras'. Many of my victims have systems that completely mystify them. They spend thousands and forget to spend any money on how they are going to transfer all that digitized data to law enforcement. Thank God for "thumb drives. I can now get the information and at least get it back to my office. The problem now is that this program refuses to work on any flavor of vista. The program does not work in "compatibility mode or on a normal install. All you get is an error message stating that "file viewer has stopped working." This has happened on 6 machines running Vista Home Premium, Vista Business or Vista Ultimate. In both, 32 bit and 64 bit machines. The final solution was, we got FUJITSU to give us downgraded Windows XP drivers for their machine. Works perfectly, now. The only other problem is that all these various surveillance systems use proprietary software. Getting copies of the software from the various companies was nearly impossible till they found out their customers would sue if they didn't give it to us. You'd have thought they would have been more co-operative. It's all about the bottom line, ain't it?

It's NOT DELUXE
I also bought this dumbed down version only to find out there is a deluxe available for an extra $29-- no mention of this on the box. This version is very lame - you can't even cut and paste from the viewer to another application. My advice, is go with Quick View - it's the full package for about the price of this dumbed down and fairly worthless File Viewer.

Disk Jockey
I've used Disk Jockey since it was first introduced. It is indispensible for managing my myriad files and folders on clients. I not only know what each file actually contains but I can manage, manipulate and maximize all of the data. It saves vast amounts of time. The ability to view files without having the software on my machine is also a huge huge plus. There is no downside that I've found.
