it is more like poetry, needs rereading.for me - not enough about the nation.still - a trip to where i have not been.

Inspired by a conversation with a theatre producer to get hold of Mia Couta's writing, I was impressed and then unimpressed by this collection of stories, some of which I found to be trite and too focused on a punch line. The magical realism that interposes itself in this material is sometimes completely magnificent, but this is not consistent. I found myself forcing myself to finish reading this book.

Actually, the stories are well written, some of them excellent. However, I do have problems with the 'unexplainable' part in some stories. Maybe that is due to my personal lack of experience and understanding for Africa.
