Exceptional
Once I got into the actual couplets the book starts to reveal the universal truths that were talked about in the beginning. Especially on the ideas of anger and hate it's always best to forget transgressions rather than hold on to any of it.

many cuter songs and rhymes but didnt change my mind about anything

Sing songy
This translation is a bit ‘sing songy’. The cared more about the rhyme than the meaning of each couplet

A very book in physical outlook and content.
Very fine in physical get up, typography, paper quality and overall outlook. The English rendering is pleasing to read.

Mr Gandhi Did An Admirable Job
What a wonderful translation of the venerated Kural!Perhaps the best till date (among the contemporary ones), in my humble opinion. The translator was able to capture almost every aspect that Kural has to offer. The indisputable philosophy, the succinct expressiveness, the timeless wisdom, the practicality of the messages, the poetic beauty. This is the gold standard of translation of a classical literature. The translation depicts such expertise, yet the attitude of the translator is so humble.I'm not going to comment anything about the core idea or content of the book itself, becoz that would be a nuisance to do; but all I can do is expressing my joy of reading this particular translation. If you want to appreciate/savour the essential spirit of the great Tirukkural in its entirety, this Aleph Book Company edition (translated by the unpresuming Gopalkrishna Gandhi) is the one. Period.

Distilled, practical and day to day wisdom is distilled in this book.
Distilled condensed wisdom including pithy observations which have stood the test of time. It is delight to read. Each line while being concise carries so much wisdom. The author acknowledges the tall task of translating the Tirukkurral (originally written in Tamil) and in my view has done a fine job.A must read for all.Read a few lines and relish the thinking around each, over time. In day to day life some of the points will keep coming back to you and guide you as well.

Book quality paper quality is good. But what i was expecting is not there. translation Language is excellent. But if it would had been along with Tamil original Kurral scripted in eng and then translated would have been great work.
