Miss marple in true form
This movie, and all in the series, don’t get enough credit for embodying the character Agatha Christie created

I love Margaret Rutherford; she is good at acting and is such a hoot.
I watch these movies of Miss Marple-Agatha Christie character done by her over and over when I need some fun and a lift. She was a complicated human in real life, but I never get tired of her acting. So glad she won an Oscar for her effort in VIP I believe with the likes of Maggie Smith, another great Dame.

My favorite Miss Marple
Margaret Rutherford is a hoot, and I have all four of her movies as Miss Marple. They are awesome and I highly recommend to any fans of Agatha Christie. She brings her unique sense of humor and her wit and brilliance to these movies. I wish they would have made more.

Deliciously English!
A treat with three marvelous character actors- Margaret Rutherford, Robert Morley and Flora Robson. AND Rutherford's real husband, Stringer Davis, playing Mr. Stringer. Agatha Christie's Miss Marple was in no way a comic character. Joan Hickson played the old lady to perfection. Nevertheless , the Rutherford Miss Marple films are delightful in their own way and very English. Tea and crumpets English. If you have never tried Amazon's Instant Movies, let me say a few words on the subject. I have rented many of them and the SD (standard definition) films have always been excellent. HD (high definition) may be superior, but I stick with the SD's and save a dollar. If an occasional glitch occurs with a movie you have rented, their customer service (I select chat but you can send an email) will straighten things out for you and if your movie selection simply won't play after they do a bit of tweaking, they will refund your money. I am particularly grateful for these movies because many of them are captioned and I am deaf. However, in some cases if the dialog is complicated the captions come in handy for non-impaired watchers.

Margaret Rutherford
I'm not likely to forget Margaret Rutherford's Miss Marple. Of all the wonderful actresses who played the part, Margaret Rutherford takes the cake. She was my first, but not my last by any means. Finding her on Amazon was such a nice surprise.

You'll never guess who dun it
Or maybe you will. Just decide who, apart from Miss Marple, Mr Stringer and Inspector Craddock is the least likely person to be the murderer and that'll be the beggar. It doesn't matter though. This is pure entertainment. Margaret Rutherford's Jane Marple (with the help of dear old Mr Stringer and the long suffering Inspector Craddock), runs the murderer to ground in her own inimitable style. This adventure starts with the public spirited Miss Marple dragging poor old Stringer round the village collecting for one of her charities. They knock on the door of Mr Enderby, a rich old recluse and, getting no response, they enter the house just in time to see the old fellow clutch his chest and tumble down the stairs. Contrary to Craddock's inevitable conclusion of death by natural causes, Miss Marple's instincts point to murder .... of course. In view of Craddock's usual short-sighted refusal to see sense, Jane has to take the reins and begin the investigation herself. She suspects a member of the old gentleman's family has finished him off in order to inherit a share of his money. The family are staying at a hotel and riding stables business run by Hector Enderby (Robert Morley) so Miss Marple signs in for a riding holiday. As investigations proceed the body count is likely to rise. Will any of the family be left to charge by the end of the investigation? You'll have to watch the film to find out.I've been trying to get hold of a copy of this film for ages. It's an old favourite from way back. It's just as funny as I remember and I'm delighted with the quality of the sound and picture. If it had been all grainy and crackly I would have enjoyed it anyway but it's all the better for being crisp and clear.Highly recommended.

Underrated classic
You won't see this film on any best British films of all time list, but this is a well crafted, well acted, and of course being based on an Agatha Christie's who done it, the film is well plotted. The film is quintessentially British and has a Cosy charm. Probably going to appeal to people like me, of a certain age! That said, with our extended winter you could do worse than to spend and hour and twenty minutes experiencing some early sixties nostalgia and charm.
