Quality has value on the ocean!
I am a long distance ocean kayaker. My needs for a deck bag were to have easy access to a Go-Pro camera with hand held float, snacks, water bottle, VHF radio and a small pelican box with keys/cell phone/wallet/backup batteries. I also needed a 'bug out' bag that I can grab fast if the boat is going down. Here is why I strongly endorse this product:1. Large enough to hold all gear listed, plus an additional liter of water, rain jacket first aid kit, fire starter and food for 24 hrs.2. Profile does not impede sight lines to deck compass.3. Workmanship is excellent. I have soaked this bag in the sea, stripped out the liner and washed/bleached/rinsed/dried it over a dozen times. No seams are fraying, no zippers binding, it looks great. Many products built for either the ocean or the mountains appear overpriced at first glance. When you actually use them, and beat them senseless, that's when you understand why some cost triple what others charge.Items that Chinook may consider:Make the bungees on the deck clips adjustable in length. I end up winding the bungees around my deck rigging to get them tight.Put something on the bottom to prevent the bag from sliding across the deck.Update: I continue to use and abuse this bag regularly; it refuses to wear down at all. I've found the right and left exterior compartments to be excellent places for a bilge pump and rolled up paddle float. Two less items under bungees behind me where I can't see them.

Decent design, so-so materials
I looked at a lot of deck bags and didn't really like anything I saw, so I finally just ordered this one. The ability to put the paddle float and bilge pump on the sides is useful, plus the bag does have a lot of room.Unfortunately, my bag broke on me on my very first trip -- a carabiner came off a draw cord. I later noticed that that particular carabiner was different than the others -- manufacturing defect? defect with customer return? Am currently trying to iron this problem out with Amazon and Chinook. As other reviewers have noted, the zippers are only fair quality. I also find the rain flap over the main zipper to be annoying -- I keep getting it caught in the zipper. It's kind of pointless to even have the thing since the whole bag doesn't keep water away from the contents anyway. There is also no interior waterproof bag, and even the plastic in the main bag seems kind of flimsy.Note that this bag is very wide, wider than most other bags, so you might find yourself whacking the bag and/or your side contents with your paddle. (Ended up solving that problem by switching paddles with the hubs. As it turned out, each of us liked the other's paddle better, so that at least worked out well!)Update 6/24: Great customer service from Amazon. They responded promptly to my email, refunded the full cost of my bag/shipping and told me I didn't need to return the defective bag...

I like the side and top storage
I like the side and top storage. The inner plastic liner along the top kept folding in and down, so I added 3 fiberglass slats (thick 2" wide venetian slats) for extra support and I couldn't be happier. Don't count on it being 100% waterproof, however keep it zipped and things stay dry enough, as long as you stay upright. Coat the zipper with soap or parrifin wax and it opperates much easier. I love it for, maps, snacks, water, binocs, camera, and stuff I need for the day. This is the only deck bag I've had, so I don't know what to compare it to, but I'm satisfied with it and am not looking to replace it. It's been on a couple week long paddle trips and several day trips. The deck bag fit nicely on my Perception Sea Lion.

Love this deck bag
I cannot say enough good things about this deck bag. It is roomy, easy to install, has plenty of hook points to to hang gear, looks great. I read some reviews about the stiffener board being hard to install or breaking. I did not have any issues installing the stiffener. My cat even sat on the bag and it held up to her weight. She bent it but I just popped it back in place and it was good to go. I haven't flipped my kayak since I stalled it but it seems relatively water proof. None of my gear has gotten wet so far. I highly recommend this bag. I have one installed on my wife's Wilderness Systems Tsunami 120 and one installed on my Tsunami 145.

Convenient kayaker!
This bag was bought as a gift for my husband for his kayak. He absolutely loves it and fills it every time we go out on the water. It was extremely easy to place on the front of his kayak which is so convenient. The straps are easily adjustable to fit any kayak. The material is durable which is needed out on the water. The fact that there is more than one compartment makes it easy to organize items. We haul our kayaks on our roof and the bag stas put on the kayak even during hauling. This was a great purchase and we are definitely getting a lot of use out of it. I would recommend to any kayaker!

Looks good, but attachment hook looks cheap.
Just received this, have not tested on the water. I usually write reviews after testing. But.. I have been through a few deck bags (seattle sports) and the zippers always fail on those (salt water destroys everything in time). Decided to try something new and bought this bag (it still has zippers). Plenty of room in this bag (it's pretty big). Holds my pump and paddle float without issue. The one thing I do see as maybe being a problem is the plastic hooks that hook the bag to the kayak. They look cheap and looks as though they may break or bend in the wrong direction and detach from the boat if the sliest stress is put on the bag when connected to the boat. But will test out and see how it goes. Think I may just attach velcro to my old seattle sports bag and just not worry about the zipper if it doesn't work out.

Great value
This guy is super useful for a reasonable price. Be aware, however, the bungee connectors are a little sketchy when stretched, they have a compression type connector that can pop off when stretched and would easily be lost in the water. Luckily this has only happened to me while loading out. I keep clipped to my deck straps as a fail safe and have been making sure it's secure before launch and all as been well so far.

Nice-looking, sturdy bag with good features.
The Chinook 33515 Intertidal bag is roomy, attractive, and it has a variety of pockets and straps for storing gear. I place my water bottle and pump in the side sleeves, important utensils in the front flap, and clothes for weather changes in the main compartment. You can clip a chart holder to the from for easy map reading, and there is the possibility of attaching the deck compass as well. Drawbacks include rather cheap plastic clips, which I expect to fail in the future, and a slightly awkward plastic stiffening board which may not fit well if the side pockets are full. Nevertheless, a solid offering for a deck bag, worth the money.

Attachment devices break down
I was really pleased when I received this bag. It is the size I need but never tightened down properly. Now the locking devices that hold the clips to the bungee cord are falling apart making the bag useless the way it is. Used for less about 3 paddles and handled gently.

Decent Deck Bag
Good size and side pouches are handy. Would prefer if the straps that attach the bag to the deck were adjustable.
