Krocus Kozanis Organic Herbal Tea with Honey, Orange, & Saffron

Krokos is renowned in Greece and abroad for the production of the Greek Macedonian Saffron, which is one of the world's most intense and valuable varieties. Although the ancient Minoans were known to cultivate saffron during Late Bronze Age Crete, the cultivation of the plant disappeared from Greece until about 300 years ago, when Greek Macedonian traders brought the plant from Austria to the region of Kozani. The town of Krokos is the base of the Cooperative of Saffron Producers of Kozani, a cooperative that counts 2000 members spread between 40 small villages. Annual production, depending on weather conditions, ranges from 6 to 12 tons of pure red saffron each year. Much of this production is certified organic. All of it is Protected Designation of Origin (PDO); no other region of Greece can produce Greek Red Saffron. It is also extremely high-quality: Greek Red Saffron, as provided by the Kozani Cooperative, has a guaranteed coloring strength of 230.

I was given this product as a gift and now it is part of my evening ritual. The flavor is comparable to a fine liqueur. It's rather indescribable because it is so unique. I never imagined Greek saffron could taste so good! For a tea it's a splurge, but it's so satisfying that it takes the place of a glass of wine. I've found no other beverage that tastes so good and is as satisfying at the end of the day.

Ordered this tea from Amazon after getting it in Greece, and definitely received an expired product. It’s completely flavorless by comparison, even with two bags in a single mug of tea. Wish I could consistently reorder this from here but I’ll have to find a new supplier.

My favorite tea in the entire world. I used to be able to get it at my local grocery but they stopped carrying it. Glad to find it on Amazon. This tea is just delightful, especially in winter when the warm, intoxicating scent of saffron fills the room while the tea steeps. Lemon and honey round out the flavors. Just a beautiful tea.

This is the most delicious herbal tea I have ever had. I normally only drink black tea, but I would like to enjoy herbal tea, and this is the first herbal tea that I can drink without feeling like I'm missing something. A cup of this tea always feels like a treat.

The saffron in it gives it a rich taste, exceptional. I had it first at a Greek friend's home, and loved it.
